Here in Buffalo we only have two seasons, Fall and Winter. So when warmer weather does come around, well it's just wonderful. This year I have to say that it sucks...bad. I never in my life seen so many 90 degrees days (we broke so many heat records), humidity in the 70's or above the heat index high 90's and hitting 101 yesterday. This has been like this for the past 4 weeks and I can't even recall the last day we had a good rain. Heck...can't even model, the paints just drys and globs up to fast. I stick to everything including myself.
No AC through the house, way ask my wife. She just hates it. I spend pretty much of my time (99%) in the hottest part, the upstairs. I do have a fan :-) :-) :-) only blows the hot air around. Gess I can't wait for fall.

It's hotter here in Dallas but no AC sounds like hell. My model desk got moved out to the garage so I feel your pain. Especially after the wife heats it up with a nice hot car engine.

They do in areas of the country, like Colorado Springs, where you're not "supposed" to need AC. Next year we are using the tax refund to get an AC, OR ELSE.

"But it's a dry heat" Bull! Been there, done that. When it's over a 100, like 122 the year we moved, I don't care how dry it is. You burn your hands on the steering wheel, your backside on the seat, and you can even feel the heat through the soles of your feet.
"What's the difference between AC and a swamp cooler in Yuma in summer? Life and death."
I don't know about "global warming" but I know the last few summers have been one heck of a lot hotter than our first few were here.

Man, I'm with you. The last couple of weeks it's been hot and humid, no breeze (and I live on the lake!). I have to get up early in the AM to water HER plants so they won't burn out. Can't wait for it to snow-I'd rather plow my driveway every day than cut the grass twice a week.

Call me strange I guess, but I can deal with hot, humid weather with more gusto than the cold. My 2nd car (a truck) had no AC in it and I live in Tennessee. This winter (for me) was sheer agony, I have never been so cold in all my life & it really doesn't get that cold here.
Now I'm not saying I love being hot, but if I have to choose...
hang in there Mother! Autumn is my favorite time of the year no matter what state I'm in & I have lived in Ohio, Georgia, Florida, & of course Tennessee.

Walmart had 5000 BTU window units(large enough for a single room) on sale for $59.00 the other day. Slap one in your modeling room and blame the grumpyoldman.......

O blessed rain. After weeks of nothing but sun and temperatures in the 80-90F(Which is very hot for this part of the world), we had a little rain this morning. The air smells so good after a little rain.

Although its been stinkin hot here all this past week, I still remember what it was like dodging slush bombs.. You know.. the huge hunks of snow, road salt and dirt that fall off the cars when they have been in a garage and on a hoist for 15 minutes... Did that for 15 years.. Had enough of that...
Got the window shakers humming and the house is comfortable..Only draw back is the basement which is where I model... Its still kinda warm and sticky down there... This weather is supposed to break over the weekend... Hang on Mother.. Relief is in sight... Just need more of these..

It is fairly decent over here (25 C), though a couple of weeks ago we had our hot spell (30-35 C). Usually the head is quite humid due to the proximity to the sea...
Last wednesday was interesting with 25 packed in a domed stadium wiithout AC awaiting the concert of a certain Irish band. The refreshment vendors earned loads of money... water soaked sponges were passed around...
Last year cycling to my parents (150km/ 95 miles) was intersesting, as it was the hottest day of the year. Luckily wind was head-on. I drank 10-12 liters of fluid that day (that is 3+ gallons) and that was barely sufficient.
Anyway, I rather have a dry cold (so no rain or wind) of -20 C then 35 C weather.

Hey Joe,
Did you ever stop to think that maybe she's waiting for you to have a "HEAT STROKE". Then she could sell off you "stash" and retire a rich widow? :-) :-) :-)
Just joking...no air sucks!!!!
Good luck and pray for a cool spell. (Try putting a block of ice in front of the fan...it used to work in the old days!!!!
Cheers,

I'm a little more to the south than Harm (DutchBird) is and we've got it 35 degree celsius allready.
Last summer I was still working in a place without AC; it was so hot I lost weight!
This year I don't mind. My work starts only untill sepember again and I spend these months very relaxed.
This day I visited with my kids the public open sky swimming pool and watch all 'hot' female beauty passing by in the same time :-)
I take siësta's and keep relaxed. SWMBO looks good in summer 'clothing'... Life is bad :-)
But I agree; the weather sucks for modelling. Glue dries up before I can put the parts together!!
Joe, I know; I'm a lucky bastard...
But you just must take things as they come and enjoy every day!
So sit at the fan, let SWMBO make you a nice drink and listen to Bon Jovi's "99 in the shade"!
Here's one from over here!

Same thing here in Milwaukee. Oddly enough, it is cooler by the lake. That is of course if you're standing in it! :-) One unfortunate part about the weather is having to work in it. I load trailers for UPS and believe me there is nothing worse than opening up the trailer door and feeling the rush of hot air get sucked into your lungs. They sit in the sun all day so on a 90 F day like it has been, the trailers can get up to around 110! Throw in about 1300 packages per person, loaded in about 4 hours, five days a week, and it is what I imagined hell to be like.

Well,
now I work nightshifts...but two years ago I worked daytime, in a food distribution center, in the "cooled stuff" section, so it is a comfy 2-5 C there... a joy, unless indeed you have to load a truck, or get away... the bridge leading to the hall gets to 4-+ C easily (flat roof, glass, no AC, in the sun all day). Which is kind of a shocker...

It's been in the high 90s here as well and flirting with triple temps, plus the humidity has been in the 70s and dewpoints nearly as high. For Kansas in July (at least this part) it should be in the 100s and no humidity....
The good thing is I have AC in my lil' burrow.
Sorry Joe, I feel for ya..I really do.

Can't imagine no AC. I work in a foundry and the heat is brutal. It is in the mid 90's right now with 80% plus humidity outside. If I had to go home to a hot house, well, I'm not going home to a hot house. Too many air conditioned bars around for me to do that.

Another hot day
A/C is not an option for me. You see when I bought the house, a old Victorian each room came with one out-let...stupid idea at thier time. Before my accident I was able to remodel the whole downstairs, bathroom and my youngest daughters room upstairs. So here in my room, I running a computer, overhead light, tv and dvd player and fan. All on one out-let. I know I know it's dangerous, but what can I do...But everythings not running at the same time so it kinda works out.
