I was thinking of going to Colonial Photo and Hobby to get a lens for my new camera but I really am only interested in figures and I doubt they have them or anyone in central florida for that matter.

Blake, if you go to Colonial, drive 15 minutes (w/traffic) further East on 50 to Sci Fi City. They are on the right. While you won't find 1/35 scale, you'll find lots of resin, vinyl, garage kits, Warhammer, etc. They also have an extensive offering of Osprey books.
As far as figures go in Central FLorida, outside of DML or Tamiya, there are none. Your best bet, (and I hate this) is to mail order.
If you want to take a day and hit some really top notch shops that carry alot of plastic, Spare Time Hobbies in Cocoa and North Side Hobbies in Melbourne are floor to ceiling kits. Two of probobly the best LHS's I've been in, in a long time.
Colonial is good for paint. But is a poser compared to the other two when it comes to kits.

None. No one in CF sells Vallejo or Andrea. Colonial has the widest selection of paints with Humbrol, Gunze Sangyo, Tamiya, MM.
I'm afraid you are marooned like the rest of us. Adrift in a sea of mail order only. :-)

Newly arrived in Melbourne from deepest darkest West Texas. Still trying to locate a decent LHS (only one I've found is space coast hobbies in Palm Bay)

Checking in from St. Petersburg as well. Friend of mine and I travel to Orlando from time to time on hobby shop runs. Always make sure to ride by Sci-Fi City when we're up there.

Hey all Florida modelers specifically those in Orlando, I'll be down that way in November and wondered if there were any good hobbystores down there while I am on vacation. Thanks in advance.

Hello to everyone on the forums especially those who live hear in Florida I am new here but have been modeling for many years although I haven't started a new model in years but have recently had the itch to build something new.... thinking of doing the Tamiya Famo with the trailer and put a King Tiger on it for kicks... or a multi flak gun emplacement with searchlights .... Is the hobby shop down on 16th Street (I think??) still open? I went to UF many moons ago (man, almost 15 years now; '90-'94). We had an active club out of that shop then. I can't rememeber the name of it.
I am from Inverness (about 70 m. N of Tampa), but call the Tampa area home now, I have family in Brandon. I am active duty Army, so I don't get back much, currently in Iraq.
Good to hear that a club is still active in G'ville.
