O.K., I've run to 2 different LHS's to try to find hexogonal plastic rod to make bolt heads. Who makes it? I've looked at both Plastruct and Evergreen displays and I haven't found it. Is there another source or do my LHS's just not have them in stock?
I can't find evergreens or plastructs websites and I'm outta ideas.
If I do find them, what diameter do I use?

No offense but you did not look too hard. Both Evergreen and Plastruct have it on their websites. Go to Plastruct and type in hex rod in the search page under catalog description.

Bob, your right! I found the hex rod.
I admit, I'm the "Moron of the Day!"
I thought one of them made it, but, I thought I saw it on the display at my LHS.
How maddening.
Thanks guys,
Cuhail

Well......
no need for me to post the top secret Plasticstrut web site..... :-) :-) :-) :-)
I will say I always got good service from them, fast delivery, and good packaging, with no damage or bent rods.
Here's the PlasticStrut Homepage for those that want to check it out:

ya know what bug's me though, is I asked my LHS owner about it and he went to his computer and checked. He hadn't even heard of hex rod and couldn't find it on his 'puter either.
Time for ol' Ron to hand it to the Grandson, I think. :-)
Grumpy Dave (or anybody) , do you know if there is a minimum order at Plastruct? I'll probably pick up a pack of 10, but, do I have to pick up more just to get them to send it?

Hey Murph,
If there is a minimum order from Plastruct, how about trying another hobby shop. I no my LHS has what your looking for and thats here in Austin and San Antonio. 9 times out of 10, most of these LHS will mail order stff over the phone. Do search for hobby shops in our state and see what you find.

Yeah, I'm gonna try a couple more shops tomorrow. The first LHS I went to today looked like they haven't ordered any Evergreen for a year! And Plastruct for two! The second one I went to, my regular LHS, has only a countertop Plastruct carousel and it's centered on railroad modelers. I should have better luck tomorrow. If not, I'm going to Venture Hobbies, Chicago's largest hobby shop, and if they don't have it, I'll find a hex drawplate and make my own! :-)
Thanks all for your quick replies.

Murphy;
You should be able to find what you need at Venture. I started dealing with Don when he opened his first store on Dundee Rd. and he never let me down.

Yeah, if I have to go all the way to Whheling, I'll be pretty hacked off. I've got a few more to check before I head to Cook County! :-)

Hey Murph,
You wouldn't happen to have any of the new Eduard armor photo etch sets?
I don't no why i didn't think of this yesterday!!!! DOGH!
On the new frets, on the side are hex holes to make your own nuts. You just slide some heated up rod through and it comes out a hex. Like the old PlayDo toys, where you load it up with clay, push the lever, and out comes shapes.
If you don't , I no I have some frets in my spares box that I can send you if you want to try that.

Murphy, you should do like I done, order what bolt heads you can from Tichy train group, and Grandt Line cause they make the best, I think Tichy is a little better, but Grandt Line has more, then after you get all theres, then contact Hobbylinc.com and from their home page type in pls then click go, and hunt up their hex rod, on the Plastruct, it should be the cheapest you will find.
Cause the bolt heads you make yourself don't always look the best, but the ones from those 2 companies are pretty good, then what sizes they don't have you make yourself, cause you got no other choice. Don was great with me from Tichy train Group, you couldn't ask for better service, I had my bolt heads in 2 days from when I called him.
Hope this helps.
