Just wanted to post that one of my greatest influences in all types of modelling _ my dad turned 74 today. Dad started modelling in the late 30's and has been a profession modeller for the roads dept -done architecture models- scratch builds- is award winner and still today makes a mean model.

That's great! How did he influence you? Did he simply encourage you to do good work or is he a builder himself? Maybe post a few of his builds?

Congratulation on his birthday!!!

My dad was also a huge influence on my becoming a modeler. He was mostly interested in 54mm figures (Napoleonic and US Civil War) , but did lot's of other stuff as well. He was a real character and would have been 80 this past D-Day. It's been almost 3 years and I still miss him a bunch.

So hoist a few together and enjoy them!!

Tom and Jean luc thankyou and with the new space I should be able to take some photos of his fine work when Modelling was in its infancy - He used balso tin and cardboard to make his first modells and was responsible with a few other of starting modelling of Queensland Railways in HO and SN3.5 something of an honour, he has shared many stories of the old time modellers and sadly is watching a lot of his old time mates pass on,
