I've earlier read the polls on what is the most valuable modelling tool and such polls.
Yesterday, when working on my Dragon Panther with Eduard photoetch it stuck me... My most valuable modelling tool is a flashlight... Used to find parts that I lost on the floor.
You know that you are butterfingered when you get sore knees because of all the crawling on the floor looking for lost parts...
Panzers and dioramas... that's all! :)

Yup the trusty X-acto is number one on my desk, with the #11 blade of course.

I'm not sure if I use it the most but best for value is my thumbnail. I use it for a knife, a file, a pick, not to mention tweezers.

My flexible floor light. Used when building and painting. Doesnt matter if its during the day or at night, this light can be directed to where I want it. It stays in the living room all the time and the wife thought it was such a good idea .. she bought one for the other side of the sofa, for herself. Next up would be the scalpel!

Not counting my FLASHLIGHT for the reasons already mentioned!!!
Number one most used is the trusty Exacto with the #11 blade. (Anyone else taken to buying the blades in the bulk packages of 100?)
That would closely be followed by my pointed tweezers.
Third would be my set of files.
And finally the next most important is my pin vise with drill indexes.

I admit to having this problem too. My favourite is usually the latest gadget, but truthfully it’s my Sprue cutter.

Most used would have to be:
Sprue cutter
Xacto knife
Sanding sticks
CA glue.
Those 4 get me to my favorite point, being able to look at a subject in its full form.

My cheap hobby knife.
Aside from its usual job, I use it to:
1) Scrape the CA glue off my finger
2) Open up a pack of noodles
3) apply putty
4) apply wood grain or damage
5) threaten my bro if he doesn't get out of the computer seat

I would be lost without my #11 blades. Next would be my clamps, files, tweezers and sand paper assortment.

I prefer #15 blades as they cause less damage to the fingers. Have lost a lot less blood since giving up the #10s. I did have a blood-splashed box lid in which I did my modelling, but my girlfriend made me throw it out...

Hi, I'll have to agree with blaster 76. Glue would have to be #1 here. Ha, ha!
After that it would be the lighted magnifier light, #11 X-acto blade and a few of the cells in the old brain box that still operate on 'forward.'

euhhh....well....let's see.....
without money I couldn't do anything but money isn't really a tool, more something you can use for trade.
I think I use glue the most, followed by the things I use for cutting and sanding, then paints etc.
