What kind of airsupply does everyone use? I am on the compressed air cans, but want to get a compressor. Practicing with the airbrush would be easier if i didn't have to shell out for the stupid air cans. What kinds are best?? Can i rig something up from the local hardware store that will work?? Usually if you buy something that is specifically for a hobby its about 10 times as much as the regular item in a hardware store. (Patiently waiting for my Italeri Sherman.......)

I have a Sears 1/10 HP compressor that I've used for some 15 years now. Cost about a hundred bucks back then. Has a range from minimal pressure to 100 psi. It has powered three different AB's with the need only to buy an adapter for Badger AB because I lost the one that came with it. Only drawback is that it's noisy. There's a new brand, designed for AB use that is virtually silent. That one runs about $180 in the catalogues. I've seen it in use and it's surprising to see it do it's thing with no noise!

I would skip the hobby compressors and buy one at Walmart. For the same price as a hobby compressor, you can get a 1 or 2 HP compressor at Walmart. It has a much larger tank and will probably last a lot longer since you won't be using it to its capacity. Be sure and get a moisture trap though if you don't already have one.

Any compressor which offers a tank is all you need. If no regulator/moisture trap is provided with the one you get, get one!

I use a Campbell Hausfeld compressor from Walmart. I has the regulators and cost less than $100.00.
