I was debating if I still wanted to go up there for this show. I think I might after all. I'll probaby leave after work from Austin Friday night and stay the night on Base at Carswell in Ft. Worth. Then drive over to Misquite in the morning. It all depends if I can finish some new stuff fro the show. All the stuff I took to ASMS won 1st place, so it really wouldnt be right to enter them again.

I'm just bringing some stuff to put on display. Mainly going to see if I can find anything I'm needing/ or might need and to meet as many of ya'll as I can...so you better be there Joe :-)

If Keith Magee is going to be there manning a booth again, we can all make that our HQ for meet-up

For those of you who don't kow, Keith makes and sells plaster based diorama products (houses, bridges and such)

I'm on Squadron mail order so all I get is the little paragraph they put on the front page of the monthly supplement. Sometimes the LHS get a flyer, we have a Hobbyland near here (Arlington) that might have one. Don't know why they don't do a mail-out, They make us sign in and put name and address on a sheet. Heck they could add email and mail out info over the internet. I guess it's an IPMS thing, if you don't belong to their club you don't win any prizes or get any notification. No matter, I go every year and ALWAYS enjoy it.

Well, we're a week away now. The map on the website this year is excellent...In past years it was very weak and one could quite easily become lost searching for the Squadron shop. Last year entry fee was $7 so inflation has hit.($9 this year) Haven't found any money off entry coupons either. Saw a couple of guys got together in Austrailia at a show. We've got to beat them for attendence, so I hope everyone is still planning on being there I understand Keith Magee will be there with a booth, so we can meet up there. If Pete still makes up name tags that would be a good place to pick them up. So guys bring your cameras and wallets at least. Competition in Armor is fierce so bring your "A" game if you're gonna compete.

Guys,
I wont be attending this one this year. I had drill up there this weekend and the chest infection and allergies I had got worse, so I have to stay in this weekend. Anyways, I didnt get to finish any of the new stuff I was working on. I will definately make Supercon in August or Sep tember (when ever it is) as long as it doesnt fall on one of my drill weekends.
So, I wont be making any of the badges for you guys. SORRY!!!!! But it is easy and doesnt cost a thing to make them. I think I paid about a $1.50 for a dozen name tag holders from Office Depot and got the "Armorama" logo from here and in about 10 minutes, had everyones printed up.

Have a good time and take lots of pictures.

Pete:

Sorry to hear you're under weather. It's that time of year around hear everyones allergies and sinuses go nutso with the temp fluctuations and the tons of pollen in the air. You will be missed. Sure hope everyone else is still on board. If anyone knows how to make banners or how to copy the logo maybe they can print up something we can put with Keiths booth ....not trying to detract from your business Keith, but maybe we can also drum up a bit of interest from some of the DFW regulars to become active members, I'll bet a dime to a dollar most have visited the site.

I'll be wearing my usual tan shorts and orange "Cherokee Charlie" (he's an alligator) t- shirt...guys look for Keith Magees booth. He sells / makes plaster of paris buildings and accessories for dioramas. He has kindly allowed us to call it Aromorama HQ...I've made a small sign that says that . Would really like to get a group shot of us all to post on the site. You know the Aussies did it, but only had two. Want to cream them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to try to get there myself but won't be there all day, will be there mainly for the shopping and browsing other peoples pieces to try to learn more. Still very much the Padawan with model building, actually more like a youngling. lol

Had a blast meeting you guys today, sorry I had to leave so quickly but had to get home to fix the compressor for the wife's car. She was doing it herself (she's handy to have around lol) and was having a problem getting a connector off and needed another part so I had to get home quick to get that done.

Man, I'll definitely do more shopping at the next show as this one had a lot of nice kits at it. I wasn't going for the bigger kits, already have a bunch from HL sales that I need to get building but wanted to get more braille scale and found a lot of great deals. Even picked up a unique piece, an Archduke Ferdinand Knight model which was a pretty nice little kit for only $5!

Keith, you are quite the artist! It was pretty cool watching you work that magic on that balsa foam, I know where to go for items when I get more into building dio's.

Sorry you missed it to Reb. There's another show held in Arlington in mid August. I thought we had the "photographic" record of most Armorama guys in one place, but Sabot came up with a pic featuring 7. We'll have to get you, Pete and some of the other TExas guys to show up to beat that. Show was only mediocre, hopefully Arlington will beat it this year. Oh, you did miss the "half-time"show. It was belly dancers

Well fellas,
Hate to burst Rob's bubble, but I was there as well. I don't have photographic proof, but I can produce a photo of me with the Trumpeter Mi-17 the Dallas Hobby Town guys sold me for $55.00. What a deal! The show was a bit of a disappointment, not in the quality of the models, but in the quantity.
Squadron put on their usual fantastic spread, and among other things, I was able to get to the Trumpeter 39(H) 10.5cm LeFH18(sf) auf Geschutzwagen at half off. I think I see a pattern developing...
