In the October issue of FSM, there is a green reader's survey. Question #3 asks about what hobby publications you read. It lists Hyperscale.com and Internet Modeler. We should send in the ballot and write in Armorama.com in the "other" spot. It's postage paid so it won't cost you anything if you already get the magazine.

Sounds like a winning idea to me! :-)

BUT, I can't seem to locate one in mine.

In the October 2002 issue? (the one with the 1/32 Corsair?)
I can't seem to find the survey? Was it on a thick green card in the middle, like the subscription cards are on?
I don't think I got one...

And I love surveys...

Mine was wide enough to be attached by all three staples. The multi page fold out was longer than a legal sized piece of paper with a peel-n-stick strip to close it up and mail it out. If you got it, you couldn't miss it. I get my FSM via subscription, maybe it is not included on newsstand editions or only in random issues.

I subsrcibe also and did't get anything. I didn't tear anything out (never do) so I couldn't have tossed it. Thanks for the heads up. I will shoot them an e-mail and let them know that I am a subscriber and which site I visit.

Thanks for the heads up.

Here's their response:

Dear Kenneth Fortier:

Thank you for contacting us. While we are not sure why you did not receive a
Reader's Survey in your issue, may we suggest you go to our website,
www.finescale.com. We have a survey online we invite you to fill out.

The survey online is: How many unbuilt kits do you have? ...bummer.

Well, I too checked my FSM and no survey. The staples did not look like anything had been removed, so I guess it was a random survey, (not in all copies.) Too bad I would have liked to pass on this site. It's great :-) I will have to continue selling the site through word of mouth.

I got one in the magazine I bought from the local hobby shop. All 10 of the copies they had there had a survey in it. I filled mine out and sent it in...

My subscription copy also came without the survey and was slightly disheveled as if the printing press tried to put it in, but missed On to their website.

No problem, Gunnie's going to buy the remaining FSMs with the survey inside and mail them in himself. Right Gunnie?

Thanks, Andrew, for writing. Indeed FSM just included in its October issue
several thousand survey forms, but they don't go to every magazine.

The survey gurus say that we get an accurate sample if we can receive back a
thousand or so forms, so we only mail the quantity necessary to ensure we'll
get that thousand based on a certain historical response rate. Very
scientific, I'm sure, but kind of a mystery to me.

To be honest, this survey is somewhat less useful to me than the e-mail
survey I send out after every issue. We take a random sample of e-mail names
(dedicated to the survey only, no marketing of names taken for this list)
and ask participants to evaluate each issue and FSM overall. The mailed
survey is more useful to our advertising sales and circulation people to
determine the overall state of the hobby and if the magazine is on course
for serving manufacturers.

If you'd like to be in the pool of names for the e-mail survey, just go to
our FSM homepage and find the button that says something like "Would you
like to participate in a survey?"

Thanks so much for the kind words, and don't hesitate to let me know if we
can do anything for you here at FSM.

Cordially,

This is what I got in reply to my E-mail. Doesn't mention the web site but I made sure to tell them how much it has helped me since I came back to modeling.

HI Folks: Just wanted to tell everyone that I bought my copy of FSM and it had the survey in it. I filled it out and sent it in this week. It had some interesting questions. So that was okay.
