Ok, so they're in Fine Scale and send me stuff at home.. maybe I'm getting weak or some of the stuff other than the "Secret Deadly Ninja Fighting and Silent Killing Arts" silliness or SAS Survival manuals actually looks better this time around.
I'm especially curious about the "Scale Armor II" (note no U in armor...) for building Panthers and PZ IV's .. now I'm a panther nut and have hundreds of dollars worth of Panther books and will probably not find anything too new here, but... has anyone seen this one?
Anyone else get weak recently and re-join?
yeah, I was a member long ago..

Mike - I confess - I recently got weak and rejoined the MBC. Don't ask me why. I haven't seen Scale Armor II, but I do have Scale Armor I. I wasn't all that impressed - but for pennies I didn't think to complain too much. Seasoned German AFV modelers out there probably wouldn't cross the street for it, but novice armor modelers might find some useful inspiration in it.

I've been a member for about 5 years now. Every now now and again I see a book worth checking out.
Heck, some are plenty good for just reading.

A closer look on the website shows the release/availability date for Scale Armor II as Sept 16.. so when it gets here I'll let you all know.
I snagged a couple of others I had looked at in the bookstore for pennies as well.
Thanks for the advice..
Best bet, use the code from the mailing card when signing up online, you can get the 'free' 5th book and first book for 4.99 that way, but of course it makes the shipping cost more..

I tend to keep away from any of those type of "CLUBS". With the internet at my fingers I can usually find a comparible price or wait for B&N to put it on sale a year later.

I joined and got most of the Osprey Modelling Compendum Manuals for next to nothing. Additionally, they have several of the Osprey New Vanguard tank books in hard back, kinda neat and much cheaper than the $14 cover price that they go for in the stores. The Scale Armor I and II are the Osprey Modeler's guide to the Sherman and the PzKpw IV bound together. Not sure of which two books the Scale Armor II consists of. I do know that America's One-Two Punch book is the Osprey New Vanguard M1 Abrams and M2/3 Bradley books combined in one volume.
I just wish their New Vanguard selection was a little better since they are cheaper and hard backed.

I'm a member of the club. I really just joined to get the model books that they have available. Not alot of variety, but I figure it's enough to fullfill my requirement and then I'll drop it.

I'm a member of the same club but the Canadian version. We get the same books after the exchange with our crappy dollar. I got most of the modelling books available when I signed up and most were ok. I haven't really ordered much since then...
If I was to do it over again I'd pass...

I was a member for awhile and got the WWII AFV and Armor books which were really nice. I also got some modeling how to books and a nice Panzer Grenadier reference. They are a pretty decent club. not to much pressure.

I have been a member several times and have acquired a nice library of military history books for a decent price. It is much better now that they do not automatically ship the featured books.

I agree also. It's good for the first four "free books", then get out after commitment. Good prices, but you get killed on shipping compared to Amazon or B&N.

Gguys, go to www.militarybookclub.com, you may be able to join online and order from them direct. I keep my membership going. I get a little catalog/mailer card each month, but you can decline selections online so you don't waste a stamp. That way when they have the special sales advertised in the flyer or via e-mail message, you know about it right away and can take advantage of it. Also, it is never worth it to buy just a book at a time. The shipping is better if you order several at a time.
