Check out the following slide show.....it may take some time to load if you have dial-up (4.5mb), but it's worth it....

I am not ashamed to admit it, but that brought a tear to my eye.

I just got back from Ft. Polk where my Brigade(56th BCT, 36th ID) did its last train up before leaving for Iraq in a couple of weeks. The bad thing is, I'M NOT GOINING WITH THEM!!!!!!!!!!! My MOS is contracted out to civilians over there and they dont need me and my section.
Im a soldier, I should be going with my unit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its going to be hard to watch the news, view these slide shows, or even pick up a news paper for the next year without thinking about my fellow brothers and sister, TEXANS, going in harms way!!!!!!!!!!! But with guys like you all saying thanks and keeping us in your prayers, I think I will get through it and I NOW MY BRIGADE WILL TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DUTY - HONOR - COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Epi,

I had the same exact thing happen back in 1983 when my unit from the 82nd went to Grenada. I know that was nothing compared to what's going on over in Iraq, but just the same, they took the entire battalion and left the 4.2 mortar platoon behind at Ft. Bragg...said the naval guns could cover the entire island so they didn't need mortars...then we find out they took mortar platoons from other units several days later....once they returned to Bragg, everyone in my platoon had to watch while the rest of the unit was awarded combat patches and CIB's for that excursion and we got nothing but funeral detail for two of our guys....that was and honor, but I'm still bitter about not being able to go....

These people are always in my thoughts. I wish them all the best. It choked me up when I saw the girl holding the poster "My Dad, My Hero". They are my heroes too.

Not that i agree with every aspect of this war, i sure as hell believe every country should get behind their troops, no matter what the circumstances, this is a fine tribute to the united states military, and every county of the colaition.
cheers, thanks for posting Darryl

Nor do I David, Nor do I....I suppose it's just one of those necessary evils we must sometimes live with...we should support them as you pretty much said...they certainly deserve it...
