Just wanted to say hi to all you folks.
I have been lurking in the shadows here for the last 8 months or so reading and learning alot from everyone on here.
I just recently got back into the hobby within the last year after about a 12 year hiatus.
My first ever model was a F-14 Tomcat my mom got for me when I was 12 and it hooked me for life. Everytime I open a bottle of testors paint the smell reminds me of building that thing.
I built mainly aircraft for 4 years or so until I tried the Italeri willys jeep and armour modeling became my passion.
When I hit 18 partying, girls, traveling and a limited budget saw me falling out of the hobby.
Flash forward 12 years and I am 30 and back with all the passion I had when I was a teenager.
Its funny though. Back then I had the time but no money. Now money isn't a problem but time is!!
Anyways I don't want to be too longwinded in my first post just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.

welcome to the big A! was it the revell or monogram tomcat? with the wings that open? thats a nice kit, the first one i ever painted
i understand what you mean about the money and the time thing, and the partying and girls, iam only 15, and not long ago, i had to sell and arm to buy a model, with skateboarding, 4 wheeling and dirtbiking, i had to get a job with my dad, and YES he's had it rougth and had to work hard for his mone as a kid so he puts pressure on me to work all the time. but hey! should i mind? i can afford most of hte stuff i want, and jsut recently, for working so hard and being nice, i have my own room for modeling! little 6 by 6, but i can do wtv i want in it!
Enjoy the stay, feel free to psot your work and ask questions,
Frank

Hi Jeff, I'm also a long time lurker, recent joiner. I left it a long time joining 'cos I was frightened I'd spend all me free time yarning on the computer rather than modelling (limited free time like you). Sure enough, I'm hooked! :-)

Welcome to Armorama Jeff. The one thing about our hobby is that you can leave it for a while but not forever. Glad to see that you are back. Enjoy!!

Rockfall -
Welcome and glad to have you here. Much the same story myself. Recently returned and glad of it. With family, job, coaching, it just didn't leave much "enjoy the hobby" time so let it go for most part for years. Still have the same commitments, but with "older" came more and improved time management to get back into it again. Here's to resurrections. Looking forward to hearing/seeing your inputs. Greatest place to be for modeling.

Ciao Rockfall,
Welcome to the big "A." I echo the sentiments of everyone here, you will grow to love it here. Like Dave (Grumpyoldman) said, "turn to and 'give us your assembled, your primed, your painted models yearning to be seen.'"
Ciao for now
Rob
