Hey...I get to be the first to respond

So, what part of Pa are you located in? I'm in Pittsburgh. I've been in touch with bodeen (jeff), who's from the New Castle Pennsylvania area. If we can get things coordinated, he's going to come to my IPMS club one of these days.
Looking forward to see who else is from my home state.
Craig
-edit-
I just checked and see that you're in New Castle. Have you ever made it to our annual model show? If you're interested, I'd like to invite you to one of our monthly IPMS model club meetings. Mayber you and jeff can hook up and share a ride down.

Hey gunny,
My club meets on the first Friday of the month. Here's a link to our club website. You'll find dates, times and directions on it.
3 Rivers IPMS I'm guessing that you're not familiar with Pittsburgh so I'll make you the same offer I made to Jeff. If you want to come down, I can meet you somewhere and you can ride there with me or just follow in your car.
Looking forward to meeting you someday.

Moved away in 1992, but come back every chance I get. Milton is my hometown. About 35 minutes down the Susquehanna River from Williamsport and about an hour and some change up the river from Harrisburg. My family is still there.

Hi Guys,
I was born and raised near Clearfield. I go back about once a year to visit my Mom and brother.
I left in '65 when I joined the AF, but I'm still a PA buy (well...an old boy) at heart.

Hi everyone from Pa.! Delbert...I went to Palmyra High Scool, not far from Reading. One of my best friends in the Army was from Reading. I live around Pittsburgh now (actually the Kittanning area) along with Mongo-Mel and Gunny. Craig..I am really looking forward to attending a meeting at the Pittsburgh club. Gunny..you're right...I think maybe after the holidays would be a good time to meet Craig and his crew. My schedule is changing yet again. I will be working 2pm-10pm. I will try to change shifts with someone to be able to attend. It's really great to be associated with so many talented people from my home state!
I look forward to meeting as many of you as I possibly can.

Hi Gunny! Great idea to post this thread.
I'm from Imperial, just a few miles from downtown Pittsburgh. Still relatively new to actually building quality models as opposed to slapping together glue and plastic as I did as a youth! It's nice to see a large PA contingent around here.
Happy Holidays, all!

Hi Frank,
Imperial you say...I'm just a couple of miles away in Crafton. Smal world

.
I'm guessing that you've made the short trip to the Hobbytown shop in Robinson. If so, then you've probably met Dennis there. He's an emplotee and a member of the Pittsburgh IPMS club that I belong to. I'd like to extend an invitation to you to come to one of our meetings any time that you're available and interested. I've been trying to get Jeff (bodeen) and Mark (gunnie) down, just haven't been able to get it coordinated yet. Maybe the three of you could all make it to the same meeting and we can do an Armorama night

.
Hope to get to meet you sometime.
Happy holidays,
Craig
PS: Sorry for not posting a reply til now but I've been having trouble getting my posts to show up the last couple of days.

Hi Craig,
You're so right, very small world indeed. Thanks for the offer - I'm definitely interested as soon as things settle down a bit for me. We're in the home stretch building our house and time has become very much a premium. It might be a couple of months, but I'll start planning now!

BTW, where do you guys meet?
I have visited Hobbytown quite a bit, mostly when I started getting back into the hobby this past summer. I typically go there now just for paints as the kit prices are a bit high and the selection isn't that great. Any recommendations for other stores in the area worth the trip?
I do believe I've met Dennis. I've talked with him briefly the couple of times he's been there. Nice guy.
May Santa bring you the kits you've been dreaming of!

Hi Frank,
First off, best of luck with the new house. That's a big project to take on.
The club meets the first Friday of the month. We get together at a church in Whitehall, just off Rt. 51. Real easy to get to. Here is a link to our club site with directions and more info...
3 Rivers IPMS As for Hobbytown...yea, their prices are a little high and the selection is more for the casual builder. But still fun to go to. In fact, the club may be doing another "performance" there in January. Just a bunch of us sitting around the tables in back, building models and answering questions to help stir up interest. If it happens, I'll let you knowwhen. Maybe you could make it up for a few minutes.
The model shop I go to the most is A.B. Charles in Dormont. It's on West liberty Ave., across from McMinn Olds. It's been aound for ages.
Have a good holiday (:-),
Craig

Hi MrMox,
The only really decent hobby shop in the Harrisburg area, that I know of, is Hobbytown USA on Union Deposit Road. It's in a little shopping plaza on the opposite side of the road from Lowes home improvement store. If you go to
http://www.hobbyretailer.com and type in Harrisburg, Pa. it will list oll of the hobby shops in the area. BEWARE...I did this when I was in Harrisburg and I ended up going to a lot of Model Railroading and RC aircraft stores. Call ahead and find out if they carry plastic models or if they are exclusively RC or RR.
I'm sure there are some other hobby stores in the York or Lancaster area. Just check out the hobby retailer website. You can also see the stores in any area of the US.
Hope this helped you a little.
