I have seen a number of threads that deal with this issue of not completed models. I am always awed by the folks who say they NEVER have more than one kit going at a time, and NEVER have they NOT completed a kit once they started it......working on it right through to completion before they start another kit. I figure they have some sort of disease that has not been diagnosed yet. This hobby simply is NOT supposed to work that way. Clearly, the norm is to have lots and lots of kits going at one time.....that's what makes it so exciting.....starting one kit, getting a new one in the mail or from Big Brown.....starting it....and so on. How anybody can resist NOT starting that just-released sparkling new whatchamacolit is beyond me. You MUST get going on it......NOW.
In my case, I ALWAYS have about 20 not-completed kits.....all aircraft because that's what I do. I tend to do what I described above, then at some point I will complete 4 or 5 of these unfinished kits before starting on a new one. Its stricly GUILT that causes me to complete them.....nothing but guilt. Like many of you who have posted earlier, I enjoy the assemby/build process more than the finishing/itty bits effort. Also, on some of the "short run" kits I always run into a snag and put the kit aside for another day......which rarely comes.
What a great hobby.....ya just gotta love it.
