Personal experience of fights in the military was against 2 chinless wonders from the Blues and Royals. Something to do with them taking objection to my comments about their spurs. They were subalterns. I was a Lieutenant..(without spurs). They were both called Nigel come to think of it, they're all called nIgel........ Jim. Long Live Republicanism!

while posted in belize, we had attachments of commando engineers and para artillery (59 cdo, 7rha), decent fight ended up in the papers in the uk! 5 years later we were fighting with 59 cdo in the maze prison, northern ireland, real labour of love there. Well they say absence makes the heart grow fonder!!!!!!! (so does the beer!!!!!!!)

While serving in the SADF (South African Defence Force), we felt it our duty to join forces with the SA Prison Services (these guys hand to hand skills were excellent) and bash the SAP (South African Police) recruits on quite a regular basis. One night after a successful (some not so) encounter with the SAP recruits we decided to frequent the roughest spot in Pretoria at the time ‘Can Can’ Bar cum nightclub. I was about the fifth guy to enter the spot and almost made it through the door. Ironically that night the SAP rescued us, we took one hell of a beating. There I learnt You are never as tough as you think you are. #:-)
