Pete, that's quite a view!

Bob, I worked at Cape Town International Airport for 4 yrs up until 4 months ago. Gotta admit, there's nothing like hearing the roar of a 747 taking off with low cloud cover! It just resonates through the bricks and mortar right through your body! Amazing to hear and feel. Got me every time for those 4 yrs!

I quite agree...there's just something intangible which keeps me in this stupid industy for almost 20 years...but there's almost nothing like sitting off the airport roadway at dusk, watching the line up of lights off in the distance!

The Dread Cubicle-

View from the Desk-

View from the window-

But like Kevin, the BEST view is to my left. As I'd like to keep my job, however, you don't get a pic. Use your imaginations-then imagine something even better. Really :-)8

This is where I work. My office is on the first floor, with a window looking out about the middle of the porch on the left. Across the street is the Main Post Chapel and a sports field.

Oh man LD! DC-10-30 or MD-11?

You must suffer from terrible 'rubber necking' from constantly going from front to left and vise-versa.

I don't know how you guys that work around commercial aviation all day can stand it...?

DC-10-30, Kev. (Good eye) No winglets, but I guess you can't tell that from the photo...
As to being able to stand it, Right now they're running a 'Huffer' not 30 ft. from my window. I DO NOT miss that aspect of the business one bit. Also, try crawling about in the pit or wing tanks on one of these beasts for 10-12 hrs a day. Believe me, after 8 years, you don't WANT to see the planes anymore
