If we had him we would have rocked Boston. I forgot to include him in any of my rampages. It's like I forgot about what he did last year against Boston. He's so overlooked because he's been sick all year and not in the media or ESPN or some sort.

Tom,
I am a die-hard Yankee fan (born and raised in Da Bronx), and hate the Red Sox as much as anyone...but Giambi would not have helped us this year. We had our foot on their throats, 3 outs away from winning, and couldn't put them away! The pitching was awful and our hitting disappeared after game 3. I hate to admit it, but they beat us and earned it this time...oh, well...next year!

Tom, you're still going at it? Dude, give it a rest. Red Sox beat the Yankees fair and square. It is over. Focus on building models or something. Yankees have won the championship how many times, 26, 27 (I am not really sure)? Sox deserved to win it this year so give them some props. It's been 86 years. Can you cut them some slack?

Marty /

So your saying if they had a healthy Giambi they still would have bet them. Game 4-5-6 were all close and men on base with " Yankees " Giambi would have driven in aleast 1-2 every over other game he's and allstar, for like years now best 1st basemen hitting in a long time he hits aleast 40 homers a year, his bat might have slowed down but the money ball was still there walking per 9 innings.Or aka ONbase %.

No one ever heard of Oritz untill this year, Slack I would give but the way it was won wasn't fair. The umpires had alot of calls for Red Sox. And I am giving them slack as it is I gave them props in my other post I just wanted to get my feelings about Giambi.

Poeple just forgot about what he did last year in the ALCS hitting Homers, walking some clutch hits, he's one of the reasons the A's where in the playoffs so much and are not NOW; don't right him off untill he has a healthy year and if he still sucks then I'll say the team that beats them is a great team.

So to END the Red Sox got LUCKY because they weren't playing a good NY team.

Tom,

There is nothing lucky about coming back from being down 3:0 to win it in 7 games and then to sweep the Cardinals, team with the best record in Baseball.

Oh Marty let Tom rant on.. I for one love to listen to someone as passionate as him about a team do this.
Never admitting that the best team won in the end but instead why their team didn't. As Red Sox Fans Marty we should know the "what if game" very very well.

I had an uncle who was the same way about the Yankees. I use to love to go over to his house and watch the games with him. When they would loose I would rib him to no end and vice versa. It was great.

So now Tom I'll play the "What if game" with ya.If the Yankees did have Giambi in the lineup. Whose bat would you have taken out?? Sheffeild's?

What I still can't understand is. How a team like the Yankees as stacked as they are with good players. Can loose out on not one but two World Series in a row. Because if memory serves me correctly the Yanks had all the players you have previously mentioned last year Tom and still lost the series to a little team called the Marlins. Whose entire payroll for the team was smaller than some of the Yankee's players contracts.

So Tom "IF" Giambi would have been in there. Chances are the way the Sox 2-3-4 pitchers were hurling the ball. Would have gotten the same results as the other batters have faced them.

So Tom I am going to take this opportunity to formally invite you up to my place for Opening Day.. When the Sox meet the Yanks and get their rings presented to them. We'll have a few beverages , cook some steaks on the grill, and have the game on to root, rib, and slap some foreheads. Heck we may even get some modeling done. (Marty the invite is for you as well I may need all the help I can get).

Paul,

I would like to say AMEN to everything you said. I couldn't have done a better job :-)

As far as the invite goes, I would love to stop by but North Carolina is a tad far from where I live. Should I ever be in the neighborhood, I will give you a shout.

GO RED SOX!!!

First and foremost ; Thanks for the invite I might take that up when the RED Sox & Yankees are in ALCS again we could Model during the day and Yell at night and drink all night.

True this is what helps pass the offseason and I have also been getting heat from fellow Yankees fans in area about the RED SOX about they should win they deserve aleast one.

I am not saying it was you bet in general.

But they never had the heart or GUTS to walk among the RED SOX nation FENWAY with a Yankee jersey on and cap and treated like they did me when I went to games. SO to say &*^%$^* RED SOX Fans because they treated you worse in FENWAY then we treated Red Sox fans in the Bronx.

There were so many fights ;beer thrown and food thrown on you that it took a TRUE YANKEE FAN to walk among RED SOX nation. OH heart to mention in there.

Why would you leave sheffieds bat out, they would have had 1-8 in lineup be allstars. The pitching is what hurt us, and about last year that is what got us to world series and this year it would have won it. We had OLD players last year, this year we had prime time players hitting.

How many allstars does Boston have?

2-4 months till Spring Training
:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

PS; who do you think will return to SOX and will Pedro's Daddy sign him to a NEW room?

Tom:

I can't speak for the entire Red Sox nation, but suffice it to say that. I never personally. Started anything with anyone wearing Yankees garb in Fenway during a game. I have seen what you mentioned as well and have shunned it.

I wouldn't have taken Sheffeild's bat out of the lineup. The question I asked was If you had Giambi who would you have taken out of that lineup.

Last year you had old players? Aren't the players you had this year as old or at least a year older this year? I ask because off hand isn't Sheffield ( who replaced O'neal in right) in his mid to late 30's(old for a MLB Player). The only one I can think of that wasn't there last year and was the youngest player the signed was A-rod. Who was known to have said he wanted to go to Boston and not the Yankees, but alas we all know how that turned out.

Last year you guys had Clemens and Petit. A pitcher in his 40's annd 30's ( or there about) and still couldn't win the Series against the Marlins. So they go out and get Kevin Brown ( whose in his late 30's or 40's can't recall). I mention all this to to get to this point.

Pedro.. Let me just start by saying that if the Sox do not try EVERYTHING to retain him they are Nuts. He is one heck of a hurler. Here's the rub as I see it.
1: He is also up there in years for a Pitcher (35 I think)
2: You of all people should know has a History of tearing it up all year then being very shakey during the playoffs. (This year was the exception).
3: If George decides to sign him it would be more out of spite than anythng else.
Is he worth the money HE thinks he is worth. George would blow the salary cap through the roof. Not that that matters to George :-)

There is talk of the Yanks going after Randy Johnson as well. ( who is in his 40's)

Now there's a lineup for ya.
Kevin Brown (40's)
Randy Johnson (40's)
Pedro Martinez (mid 30's)

Scary on paper. no doubt, but who is the ace? Pedro is used to being the #1 guy. He still was even though I personally thought Schilling was. You may not know Pedro has an ego. Dare I say even bigger one than Nomar. How will the NY Press treat him?

You are right the Yanks do have a bunch of All Stars (individuals) The Sox have a team. Teams are what wins Championships not individuals. You said it earlier. The earlier teams were more cohesive and closer to each other. When the press in NY attacks a Yankees player do his team mates stick up for them? Because if the press in Boston attacked a Sox member the rest of the team Stuck up for him.

To me the Sox should try to keep the entire team togather. That would be optimal. They already settled with Varitek and Millar. The two biggest leaders of the team. The other would be Schilling. Bad ankle and all.

I have no idea how this will play out, but like you said it is going to be great to talk about it and going to be a ride that no fan on either side should miss.

Ok then till the ALCS the door will be open, beer will be cold and the Plastic on stand by.

In pregames or postgames the yankees players always pulled for each other because I think torre would have any of that, they always said that they tell each other keep the line moving or some sort of phrase to each other.

The Old Yankees had that small ball, AKA money ball they got on base some how, Pauly was the jump start like jeter is now, the Yankees got away from that because King Goerge want a pure true hitters, none of these yankees this year had a carrear years like RED Sox did, the sox just clicked all year long. Like the yankees they only clicked 61 times and when they did it was something to see.

My anut and her mom HATE I MEAN HATE this guy, there true blue fans and they can not even say his name without a curse &^**&^ word. Jason Giambi I seen him in the lineup and it just changes how pichers picth heathly or not, but he hasn't been what people paid for $120 mil. I think the steriods is what got him because when I seen him in 2002-03 he was desial now he's big but not like WOOOO desial if you now what I mean.

We lost 2003 because of boomer's back he's old and maybe will be back this year. Johnson is a 1 year guy maybe two. He's a quick fix till the AA picthing comes up from the Tampa leagues the yankees have great young talent in lower levels but none at AAA or some what major league ready so they need a 1-2 year fill in's guys to fill in,

MARK MY WORDS " If Brown is BACK next year you will see me on ESPN or CNN running after BROWN with a foreign object like my ( Walking KANE ) on the feild. " I hated this guy from the start. They say steve karsay will help the trio this year in 05 he was a closer for Padres or a NL team not sure which one because he's had sugery for a year or two.

I hope they get Beltron he's the BEST center feild in baseball right now because griffy is a has been. Bernie is just straight up OLD. They need that youung blood in center becasue then they'll have a center feild middle for a next generation.

But Paully was the reason we won so many WS games there going to retire his number they say. I have a question how many Red Sox players #'s are retied I have never looked just wondering. How come they don't have a monument park like Yankees they have had some great players like ted, carl, boggs, clemens, and some great releivers also. I was just courious georageing it.

When does the fantasy league off season start It would be cool if we could join and play against each other in a league or something. Just to help pass the 2-4 months left besides chatting here. Just as a couple of friends ( going crazy over baseball ). What do you think.
