When I first started back in the late 60s early 70s it was WW 2 German Tanks built by Monogram and any Dodge Car or truck built by the old model company "MPC". Took an forced break from it when I join the Army. When I finally got back into it late 80s, I was building Modern era armor to use for in my ARmor ID classes. Now its still modern, but now includes figures and a personal goal to build every vehicle I commanded or served on. M151A2, to include the TOW mounted version, M113 series (multi types), an a M3 Bradley.

I build WWII softskins primarily, and within that catagory lots and lots of jeeps! I have been building more armor as my son is interested in Tigers. I really am getting into german vehicles because the paint scemes can vary so much...lots of room for variety.

I like them all, just as long as I'm building something, I'm happy. When I finally get everything all set up the way I want, I plan to have just about one of about everything going at once to keep me busy, plus give more ideas.
There is always new ideas coming from each and everyone of the model areas, and they have uses in some of the other fields to. So I like to learn as much as I can, and the only way is to try.

I enjoy soft-skin, preferably blondes, but ..... errrrr.... wrong forum........ :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) as I roll on floor........
Actually I prefer softskins, and living in a small apartment it also limits the storage/display space, so mine are basicly mounted on a simple base. I do mainly US, but have been working on a few Russian (Eastern Express) kits, and completely enjoy the challenge they present. Plus the Campaigns I've entered seems to keep me more interested in finishing each one, instead of getting fustrated, and deep sixing it.
Got lots of Armour kits sitting in closet, I'll probably be dead before I get around to building them, although I do have a couple on the inbetween project pile, and actually have a few wingy things in various sub-assemblies, and I even have a boat or two waiting to be finished........

At first, my main interest laid in US WWII armor, but when time passed, also the German armor came in picture!!
So now I'm at the treshold of building my first, "superdetailed" Tiger I E late version....
I'll keep you informed!! John.

I build mostly modern Soviet/Russian softskins and AFVs and APCs. I have built a few tanks and SPGs, but those weren't as fun for me to build. I would also like to try more WWI armor and figures
A common misconseption, I currently live in US but was born and lived in Ukraine for 12 years

Considering the fact that I have very poor memory retention and unusually pitiful modeling skills as evidenced by my pictures in my gallery, I build tanks often. I have put together a couple of WWII planes but did a poor job of them.
I won't do cars and usual non-war vehicles because they just don't interest me. I would like to try a diorama, but know that my efforts will only result in derision and verbal castigation by my betters.
I had shifted my aspirations mid year after conversing with LogansDad. Before, I only tried to be mediocre and apathetic. Trying to be apathetic. Oh, the irony. He convinced me that even though my finished products may look like an autistic kindergartener's attempt, I can gain some satisfaction with the knowledge that someone, somewhere does a worse job than me. Granted, we haven't met him or her yet and they certainly do not post on this board, but that hapless individual does exist somewhere.
What was the question again?
Mike, you are way to modist! I just took a look at your gallery and you build some awesome models! And I can tell by the looks of them that you had fun building them. And hey, thats where its at anyway!
Cheers buddy!
Garry
Absolutely! You build for your self...did you have fun? I bet you did, that's all that matters. Me, I like to build everything.. my problem lately was I was stuck.. Like I said in the other post I had to do a drastic change to get my butt into gear.

I love self propelled artillery and anti-tank armor, and figures, and some vehicles. love the artillery because of the relaxed scenes, the men being farther away from the battlefield.

Howdy Spectre!
Indeed, I have a special interest in SP Artillery also. Man its to bad you were not a member just a few months ago! We just finished up a campaign called Incoming, An Artillery build. And it was a blast!

I built a Paladin and a M110 8" SP gun for the build. But I here there is already talk of starting another Artillery campaign, so cross your fingers!

Well my initial interest was armor WW2 Allies Axis. I have begun 1/35th Helos and Subs in all scales. I have had armor kicks with SP Anti Aircraft guns and Mine clearing armor. I gotta build that M4 with the Aunt Jemima (sp).

Let me explain with a story: I used to draw aircraft. In doing so, I would research them throughly for knowledge. This sort of evolved into modelling. It started out with aircraft. After a couple of models (P-40N, and a TBD Devestator), I wanted to do a helicopter. That was about a year and a half ago and it still isn't done. Then an Italeri M1A2 Abrams caught my eye (not knowing about Tamiyas Abrams) as well as an Eduard's PE set. In researching it, I found this great site and was lucky enough to stumble in on the Abrams campaign. After that, I wanted to do a Sherman and did it. Then by my Senior year of high school, I knew I wasn't going to be able to model for a while and so I built a truck to put all my leftovers into. However, in the end I still have enough stuff to fill three or four more trucks!
So you can see that, though I haven't done much, I have dabbled in almost everything. Mainly its what comes to my mind; what has been a favorite for me. I'm working on Academy's M10 and want the new CH-46E.

Everything and Anything... ships, scifi, armour, transport, figures, aircraft... plus a bunch of non military cars, motorcycles... the one thing I cannot get myself to do is to try and build a Passenger Jetliner... unless they will make one in 1:35 where I can recreate a hostage rescue!... hey there is an idea for a dio!... Yippe.
This site is great... I would have never thought of this without this site.!

I'm into 1/35 Shermans, especially post-WW II rebuilds for MDAP use. I also like 1/48 P-36/Hawk 75 and P-40's. However, none of it really matters since I haven't finished anything in about 4 years!
