Hey guys ....
Forgot to mention we use Kiwi's Kleen Glass window cleaner for removing Tamiya's acrylics. Just spray it on and watch the color run off like rain! A really quick, simple and cheap solution!

Wow! Just over the weekend and this topic has hit 4 pages. I'll have to second Ave on the nail polish. Best to avoid it. Mislmd, there's another good cleaner for acrylics especially for washing brushes, Windex and its from Johnson & Johnson too if I'm not mistaken.
One of the best things I've found about "rediscovering" this hobby is the research. Doing the research for me is at least a third of the fun of modelling. Modelling really allows you to recreate a small bit of history. Sought of a Kodak moment irrespective of the skills of the modeller. Kursk, that would be a winter dio I guess. I've seen the book you've mentioned. We love to see the pics when you get started. Let's us know if you need any help.
Silantra, the last bit of my note was just a joke coz I was wondering how someone from South Africa got into the Malaysian forum meant for Malaysians.

Thanks for the correction Floogen. I must have either seen the wrong book or more likely I saw the right book but as usual the old memory gave up again.

aisyah,
good to hear the experiment turn out well. Now we can promote Jif just like the way modellers have been promoted Future floor wax.

I have tried Siti's method of using Kiwi Kleen Glass...man...so fast! Actually I thought of using Silantra's method of using liquid detergent but since my wife is allergic to them (dual use u see) and our household uses regular detergent, i opt for the former. Besides, I can clean the display cabinet with it!

Actually I just realised almost any kind of heavy duty detergent can be used to strip paint, not just oven cleaner and stuff. This morning I experimented using normal floor cleaner, the type you use to mop your floor with, and it works just as well.

We tried brake fluid this past weekend on a really "stubborn" paint job. Some paint has come off but mostly the paint is staying put.
