Hell, I remember 1964 /65 as being the time I discovered Airfix 72nd scale aircraft, but didn't even see my kit listed the venerable B-17G "Liliput Lil" also remember a ME 262 as it was the first I ever heard of the plane (I was 10)

Oh boy is that a blast from the past. The first one I can remember building is the 75mm assault gun. I still have a soft spot in my heart for that kind of vehicle. Looking over that list is like looking through a high school year book. So many old friends that aren't around any more.

Mine would be the F-111A Aardvark. If they brought out a model then it would have already been in service. And it still is!!! My first model was the Me 262. Glued together and put the decals on without any paint. ( Well I was 8 at the time, no paint in the box, how was I to know ) Mind you, that started off my education about the war, as I proudly showed the model to my parents pointing at what I thought were nice details, they explained to me what the swastikas were about.

Cheers
Henk

Hmm, I myself am of "ww 1 tank" vintage.

Makes two of us! I always believed I was one of the more 'senior' (age range, that is) model builders on the site. Well at least now I have the ‘time’ to improve my skills!

how about the HO-OO scale plastic tanks that were made of the same stuff as the soldiers (polythene i think). o.k. its 1974, my dad is taking me to not the locol hobby store ,but either woolworths, or a shop called buyrite that sold decorating supplies on one side and airfiix kits (every release) plus just about the entire dinky range on the other side, talk about an alladins cave! so, what is little phil bugging his old man for? spitfire mk1 blister pack, halifax bomber, fairy rotodyne, 8th army, africa korps all the bases (pontoon bridge, coastal defence, and the gun emplacement) and the one that i remember most the Me 110-d, at this stage i'm also hassling dad to buy me a dinky spitire with a moterised prop!

Infact some Airfix Japanese infantry holed up behind the skirting board are still refusing to surrender unless ordered to do so by the Emperor himself.
