I just wanted to share my euphoria with the rest of the fine Armorama community. Days like these are too few and far between.

My wife and daughter were off for the weekend at a marching band competition, leaving me alone back at the casa. (Don’t get me wrong—bachelor’ing it is not what made it a great day)

An old friend of mine came up for a weekend visit. He happens to also be a model builder. We were up to the wee hours Friday night talking and reminiscing about our Air Force days.

Saturday we hit the Dayton IPMS Contest and Show. Now, this was the first show I had been to in over 4 years. (Been overseas, out of touch, etc.) So, just being around all those fantastic models, talking with all those folks, and seeing all them vendors, was sheer bliss. (This site is fantastic for communicating, but it can be sort of a surrogate for the real thing)

During the break for the judging we swung by the Air Force Museum, had lunch in their cafeteria and roamed the hallowed halls of history.

But the fun didn’t end there. I had entered 8 armor kits in a couple of different categories and actually won one 1st and two 3rd place awards! (My folks always told me “Never brag out in public. Save if for your family who won’t be (too) put off by it.” But I don’t believe ya’ll will mind too much.)

After the model show we decided to take in a flick and went and enjoyed “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.” Good movie, a bit different, but not bad overall.

We topped the day off with dinner at Red Robin before he had to head back home.

And now I am sitting on my laurels, wondering and planning what to enter in next years show…

Hey Keith!

"And now I am sitting on my laurels"......don't laurels have thorns? :-)

Congrats on your success at the show!

Cheers

Hhmm thorns. Perhaps that is why folks are always telling others not to sit on them too long?
