Just picked up the box set of Band Of Brothers yesterday and watched the first two discs. This my freinds is the best movie i'v seen in awhile. Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, what a team!

Band of Brothers is fantastic. My wife and I borrowed it from her parents. We watched it almost every night for a week. I just didn't want to go to bed. It really kept me interested which is saying something for a television/movie program that's so long. I can't comment much on the specific historical accuracy of some of the events depicted, but overall, it seemed to be quite accurate and realistic. Enjoy!

Gentlemen, I must agree that this series is one of, if not the best depiction of the Normandy campaign produced so far...I am lucky enough to have interviewed men that have been there and have seen the series, and they too have said that it is an excellent telling of the tale itself, and life among the trenches....I personally can't get enough of them...

Sincerely,
Gunny

My wife got me the set for Christmas and I have watched it through twice and I'm on my third. It is awesome indeed.

Howdy mother,

I couldn't agree with you more in regards to 'Band of Brother's'.
When the series first was aired here in the State's I literally sat mesmerized on the edge of my seat and watched the entire series in that fashion with my wife bringing me my plate of Dinner.....
I also spent a significant amount of time on the BoB website and perused many posts by some of the survivors and their family. Bought the CD set as soon as it hit my local store.
Can't say enough about it, and should probably stop now.........
I believe Spielberg directed episode number 10....if I'm not mistaken.....the one that opens(and closes) with the Violinist....

Tread.

Post Script: Catching me at a particularly weak moment. The only thing I wanted to share in regards to the BoB series is; I envy having a cause...and an enemy, so clearly placed in front of you...................................................................

The DVD set is more complete than the one shown on HBO.

I watch my BoB DVD's many, many times, often popping an episode in to get ideas for dioramas, or other reference material. When the family is not home I pop in a segment with the surrond sound up rather high...lots of bass! Looking forward to Speilberg/Hanks' pacific edition.

Television, especially in the historical context, just doesn't get any better than this. Now, if the Spielberg/Hanks connection could do something with the War of the Rebellion...

Based on true events well one thing I found very hard to believe.

That Lt Winters takes on a SS unit by himself and does not get shot at all ...

Hardly reality I must say.

My thought about that scene ...

Gordon that is sooo true. In Holland it was broadcasted on Sunday evenings and I even left the pub earlier to not miss it.

Well I taped them all first as I would take a long time for the DVD box to arrive here ( as all DVD`s do) then I bought the Cd wich was absolutely beautifull. Last week on my 23rd birthday my parents gave the DVD box to me.

Brilliant series. Hope the pacific version will be just as good.

ditto ditto ditoo

I have watched them 4 times at least and also have the score. Fantasitic job all around. Probably the best film dealing with WWII made to date. Of course as a 10-hr mini-series it has an advantage of telling an epic story like this over 2-3 hr movies.

Cheers,
Jim

Read Ambrose's book, Band of Brothers - it happened just as portrayed in the film. By the way - that was the last time Winters fired his weapon in anger. Read the book or watch the remainder of the series - you never see Winters drop an enemy soldier. The shooting of the young German soldier was it for him.
