Hi all

Does anyone know how to thin Squadron putty ? Some years back I used Testor's liquid cement. but I have not been able to find any for some time I'm beginning to think it's no longer made. So if anyone has any ideas on thinning either the white or green Squadron putty, it would be a big help.

Thanks in advance

What I have done is thin with Testors glue and brushed it on in finer areas, the liquid cement. I made up a jar of it a year ago and its still good! It was done with the green putty.

John

Did you use the regulr testor's tube glue ? I got a tube of it as part of a birthday gift a few months ago. I ran out of super glue the other night and tried using that stuff. It did not take long for me to remember why I stopped using it. If I mix it with the putty will it thin it down ?

Dont use testors tube glue. Use liquid glue only to thin putty out. Testors still makes liquid glue but it comes ina round bottle now and not the old square one. You can use Tamiya Liquid as well to thin your putty if you cant find any Testors. Good luck.

Guys this question is kinda along the same lines. When I thin my squadron green putty the glop I get is just that glop looks like thin glue around green putty, no matter how much I try to mix it. To answer first question i use the testors glue in the square bottle with tube. Could one of you take me thru the steps to get somethibng workable? Thanks in advance. Cheers Kevin

Kevin., In a spare bottle I put in the squadron green putty and then poured some of the testors liquid glue in. I mixed it up with a coffee stirrer. Consistency is like toothpaste and I use an old paint brush to put it where its needed.

If you run out of the liquid glue, you can also use lacquer thinner. It dries faster, so it is best to work in small amounts to avoid wasting it......oh yeah...plenty of ventilation! "Q"

I use nail polish remover. The acetone in the remover thins it pretty good.
