Gen. Peter Schoomaker, the U.S. Army Chief of Staff, has released his professional reading list. Lots of interesting titles -- good chance to check what you may have already read and see what else you might want to check out. Here's a link: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/reference/CSAList/CSAList.htm

Yea, I received the reading list at work today. I haven't read a single entry on his list. Guess I am way behind the curve on this one!

Wow! Some of those books are high powered ones that you would need a tutor to help you understand. Impressive.

I was happily surprised to find that I have read 8 of the volumes listed, 2 of which were in sublist 3. (I was even happier to find that I've read 5 more than the Army CW3 that works in my office...
) On War & Art Of War were required NCO reading from my S-3 Lt. Col.
If anyone wants to ease into the list my recommendations would be In the Company of Heroes & If You Survive. Both fascinating first person accounts of men who stood up to the worst their worlds could offer. And it makes me quite sad that military personnel have to be urged to read the Constitution of the USA. You know, that thing we all swear to uphold & defend?
Happy to say it was on my list of 'have reads' before I shipped out to Parris Island

(Hey, Marines don't usually have TIME to read. they're the ones doing all the fighting while the other services read about it on the news, then write about how they would've done it better!
