Hey Guys!
My mom (yes my mom, Im still a kid remember ) is comming over to the states to vist in a few weeks. There is a super reference book store in the city where she lives (like 10 minute walk from our house!!)and they can get about any book out there, and she asked me if there are any books that I need, so I say ofcourse I need some, but the question is what.
I want to know what the best reference (for sculpting and painting) books are for
* German Uniforms (SS and Wehrmacht)
* US Uniforms regular GI's and Paratroopers.
* Great Northern War
* Ancient Greek era stuff, like Persian, Troy, Alexandre The Great stuff.
Also, any other book with just plain old WWII pictures, like a Time Magazine book that I looked at over at Johns house, with tons of pictures from the war.
Would appreciate any help! I don't know too much about searching for reference books, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Anders:
For U.S. uniforms, I'd suggest "The World War II GI: US Army Uniforms 1941-45 In Color Photographs" by Richard Windrow and Tim Hawkins, published by Motorbooks International.
It covers all theaters -- Africa, the Med and Italy, D-Day, France, the Bulge, into Germany, the Pacific, plus Arctic and mountain uniforms, tankers, airborne, etc. -- all in color photos of re-enactors wearing real or very good reproductions in crisp, big color photos. All weapons and small gear is also present and described. Very good book, if Mom can find it.

Anders, I'm never ready for a show
Been building a lot of trucks and ducks lately .... need to get a tank or two ready, plus maybe finish a few figures. I've always have too many projects going and nothing seems to get done. My Dragon Wagon dio has been "in progress" for about four years -- it probably has a total of about 100 hours in it, but I keep pushing it aside for other, "quicker" projects ... Alas, we've gone way off topic
You may want to try to get some Osprey books for the ancients,if you don't already have them. Also, Tim Streeter has a nice list of other U.S. uniform references (besides the one above) on his website: http://www.usarmymodels.com/figurereferences.html

You might get Shelby Stanton's books on US Army Uniforms and his superb Order of Battle for the US Army in World War II.

Got a book, not the most expensive, but has some interesting uniforms in it. The dust jacket states: "Describes 300 uniforms of the last 100 years from all over the world"
Title is :
20th Century Military Uniforms
ISBN 0-7607-3094-6
I don't think it cost me more than 10 bucks on special at good old Barnes and Nobles.
But has some really interesting, and unusual uniforms, especially from the smaller nations, like Bangladesh, Abyssinia, etc.
