hi,

Anyone in Lancashire know where I can buy FineScale Modeler Magazine? I can't seem to find a copy anywhere (I live in Morecambe). Tried WHSmiths, local newsagents and local model shops etc.

I could take out a subscription I suppose - but I like to be selective and buy only if the content suits me.

Has any of you guys got a subscription to FineScale? If so, do you consider it money well spent?

My local WHS only stocks model railway mags - I even have to order Military Modelling!

WHS seems to stock different magazines depending on which you visit,

my local one in mansfield sells TMMI and military modelling. the used to stock military in scale(my favorite) but stopped a few months ago.

on the other hand, the one in nottingham sells every magazine you could want, but its a bigger store in a city centre, so obviously they sell more.

ask your local newsagent, they would be happy to get them for you, and if you dont want a particular issue, they can simply put it back on the shelf for someone else!

cheers

thanks for all the replys

Is it just me - but I think the newsagents are offering a much reduced range of titles as of a few years ago?

I am going to take out a sub to FineScale.

Hi Victory,

I've subscribed to FSM for the last few years, it was the only way I could ensure getting it down here in darkest South Wales, there is a downside however, you don't get the freebies that you get buying it through the newsagents.

I think these are attached by the UK distributor, and I have to admit to being a bit miffed the first time I saw the mag in WHS (with the sanding sticks attached) after I'd received my mag a few weeks before.

Hi there

The "freebies" thingy is definitely worth considering... newsagents customers quite often get decals and booklets that aren't included on the US and subscription editions...

Who ever said life was fair...

FSM seems to be a problem. Luckily our local newsagent ‘tis a fiery individual, she takes no lip from suppliers, took her nigh a month, but FSM is arriving regularly. I now have a standing order for quite a few magazines from her.

Support your local Newsagent is what I say, you never know when you’ll need her to shout at some rep for you!

After reading this thread I went up to the local branch of WHS in Braintree and found NINE brand-new September FSMs on the shelf.

Probably the same in Chelmsford as WHS seem to be pushing FSM at the moment, certainly more than MiS which is harder to get. Luckily the local newsagent stocks it.

You are lucky David. I just called into my local WHS (Lancaster) this morning and no FSM.

I get both FSM AND MiS from my newsagent with no problems at all.
The mag I really miss is Military Vehicle Modeller International.
