Anti-Missile Defenses

An explosive series that examines the successes and failures of our nation's high-tech arsenal. Part 1 looks back at the earliest anti-missile missiles (Nike), the initial ABM missiles in the 1970s, the big Reagan Star Wars build-up in the '80s, through to the present day. America has spent more on this one weapons system (over $60-billion), and it still doesn't work! TV G

Predator and Beyond

Deployed in the War against Terrorism, remote-controlled drones carry radar that can see through cloud cover and infrared lenses that work in low light. Equipped with video cameras, the Predator can transmit live images to distant command centers. Take a look at the role of drones in the battle against the Taliban and other new weapons systems that use lasers and other sophisticated new technology to pinpoint the enemy and to reduce collateral damage. Cruise Missiles

Long-range cruise missiles, once the pariah of America's armed forces, are now helping to redefine U.S. military strategy. Today's most visible cruise missile is the Navy's Tomahawk. Fired from submarines and surface ships, it can travel several hundred miles and deliver a conventional warhead with deadly precision. While cruise missiles haven't replaced traditional warfare, they certainly have changed it. We also take a look at technology updates that promise to make good missiles even better. TV G

Tanks

In this episode, we look at the development of the tank and the monster that is the M1A2, which was developed to counter heavy Soviet tanks, but is so heavy that it can't cross bridges and can't be airlifted quickly to battle zones. We also chart the revolutionary change in thinking in the Army that led to a much more lightweight tank with a totally new gun that emphasizes accuracy over weight! TV G

Aftermath

After the unconditional surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. emerged as leader of the free world. In the aftermath of the war, U.S. servicemen faced daunting new responsibilities and perhaps a greater challenge than waging war--that of keeping the peace. We examine this monumental undertaking known simply as occupation. WWII comes alive through a moving tapestry of letters, diaries, color film and photographs unearthed from archives and personal collections. Peter Coyote narrates. TV PG

Anyone else here watch this? I thought it was pretty interesting! One downside about watching these programs... You get inspired to build models of the things you see!
Also, did anyone notice those six-wheeled assault vehicles near the end of the show? What were they? Are any models of them availible?
