Hey people

I know this question has been asked before but, I am curious..... How much time a week do you average building your kits? With my little daughter running me ragged I am getting about 2 hrs in (give or take .5 hr)

Regards

Hi Paul

During a good week I can get up to 7 - 10 hours in. The problem is the good weeks don't come often. For example, tonight is this first time I've been able to get some modeling time in since the end of May. All of us have lives that tend to get in the way of the hobby.
If I can give you a little advise. Spend time with your little girl. The plastic will always be there, but the kids are only small once and it goes by fast.

I spend around 1 to 1.5 hour each evening of the week. On weekend (depending of the weather of course) i can spend 1 to 5 hours .

An average week allows about 7 hours of model time with much of that in the shop making fiddly bits for the project.

Well, back last fall and through the winter I was averaging a good hour a day probably, but now....

Ever since I cleaned the bench and did some remodeling there I haven't done a thing. Plus, working three seperate "jobs" right now leaves zero time. I probably haven't gotten any model time in since about March or April. But, going to try to correct that this month.

Short answer, not nearly enough. I work four tens, and with a half hour drive each way that takes a big chunk out of the day. By the time I get home, have dinner, and crash for a bit it's about time for bed so I can start over again. The theory is I'd get a extra day off but 'honey dos" take care of that. I really LIVE for Sunday's when I can sometimes get a whole day in, except now that my daughter is working it takes some time away from that taking her to and from work.

anything from 0 to about 5 hours a week, and don't even have children yet...

Not enough time, even though I only need about 6 hours of sleep, my days should be about 48hrs long :-) :-) :-)

Well because of the hamster my sisters lokking after most days atleast 20 hours.Although the hamster did me a favour. Some how my acylic paint cleaner fell over and the cap wasn't on. I was asleep so the hamster ran around in its wheel and woke me up.

Hi, It just depends on what other things need doing. Usually something around 3 to 5 hours a week, a few mins. here, a few there.

Take care, Sgirty

I suppose it depends on what you cal modelling time. If it is actually gluing or painting then 0 - 5 hours per week. If you include "research" time such as here and a few other sites I visit then 20+ hours per week.

On a brighter note though my 10 year old son is starting to show interest and pestered me into buying some Warhammer 40000 models the other day - so I spent an enjoyable 3 hours with him yesterday putting them together and painting them.......... and still the AM Avenger sits forlornly looking at me waiting for a paint job.

I just leave the models on a table in my room, so whenever i pass by and feel like building i just do it, my modeling times are very uncertain, on average, perhaps 8 hours a week

Dunno, but on Saturdays, I got up to 8 hours. During weekdays, an average of 1-3 hours a day.

Between work, a 3 year old son, a wife and household projects and chores, I tend to get about 5 hours a week. But as someone said above, children are only young once so I have voluntarily limited my modeling to after he is in bed in the evenings.

Between a now >60 hour work (don't you love salary?) week and being a new daddy, I get in about an hour a week!

If I could just learn how to hold my little girl while I glue and paint, I would be good to go!

I could model alot every week but the summer is here and I'm having trouble taking the time to work on my kits. I easily could model anywhere from 15 to 20 hours a week but for the last while I've been averaging about 2 to 4 hours a week. But I still take a couple of hours a day to come visit this site and others. (more modeling time own the drain...lol)

I have had weeks where I modelled up to 30 hours, but in the last few months, Im probably averaging about 2 to 3 hours. Wife, 3 year old daughter, job, commuting 3 hours a day, apartment, surfing, telly, etc, etc, have caught up with me. I sleep about 4 hours a night, so iIl stay up late and get a few hours to myself. Now with the heat of summer, its hard to get properly motivated!

Good advice. Once she hits her teens there will be plenty of time to work on models late at night while you are waiting for her to come home from a date with a guy you know can't be trusted and will never be good enough for your little girl anyway.

Of course modeling in that frame of mind leads to disasterous paint jobs giving you even more reason to hate the boyfriend's guts...

I probably get 5 to 8 a week its a lot harder to find time in the summer months. I dont like cold weather but any more I cant wait for the winter months when I have an excuse to stay inside and model. But I guess summer is great also you can have that quality time with family. Like Wolfsix said plastic will stay plastic kids dont stay kids.
