What kinds of paint colors/techniqes can you recommend for painting things such as wood handles on tools and maybe even boxes, etc.? If somebody that knows the Model Master line of paint could respond, that would be great. MM happens to be the brand of paint that I have easy access to.

Thanks.

For wooden part I paint in acrylic first ( dark sand, or light brown).
When it's dry I do a wash with oil paint ( Sienna burt ) and LATER a light dry brush in light sand

Thats a broad question Armorguy. I hope your ready for a slew of answers!!!!!

I like to use a tan color first and then apply a black or dark brown wash. After that, I dry brush a lighter tan to pick out the grain. To tell you the truth Armorguy, I do something different almost every time. lets see what the other guys come up with.

I hadn't thought about doing the washes. That's a great idea.

No wonder you guys get your models to look so realistic! You use all kinds of cool techniques.

I use a light sand color for the base color then I take some burnt sienna oil paint and cover the whole thing with this thick mix right out of the tube ..I then take a flat paint brush and wipe off the oil paint wiping my paint brush off with each pass ...looks good to me .!
