The Last Samurai is another one I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet. That and Gladiator are two of my top faves, done by the same guy, similar style yet very different.

I look forward to the soundtracks of new historical movies just as much as the movies themselves!! James Horner, Hans Zimmer, John Williams...does it get any better??
