Re: Scalpels, oddly enough, I have found this better IMO than No. 11 X-Acto. I use the No. 3 (or 2?) blade, although it broke a few weeks ago. Scalpel blades are three times more expensive than No. 11 X-Acto blades, though (unless my sister did something with the receipt hehehehe). However, I've found the handle easy on the hands, it doesn't roll (and try to embed its point into your thigh, foot, or - in my case - head), and has a larger cutting surface. The point also doesn't get broken immediately unlike X-Acto No. 11.

Well, just a few hours ago, I had a....well...chest injury.

I was positioning a scratchbuilt lock-and-bolt to my sdkfz 7/2. It's really small and I had a hart time holding the part in place with tweezers. When I was satisfied with its position, I put CA glue on the scratchbuilt part.

Unfortunately, it slipped out of the tweezers and fell...somewhere. I looked around but I couldn't find it. I scratchbuilt another.

An hour later, I felt an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. Checking it out, there it was....the scratchbuilt part glue to my....uhhmmm...let's just say a very sensitive part. I was wearing a low cut, loose, sleeveless blouse while I was modeling.

I placed acetone to peel it off but it still hurts there.

Let me tell you a story, that every modeler should know

It's all about the No. 11 X-Acto blade which can take your soul.

While I was building the Chally 2 with the TV on

The knife slipped out of my right hand and JDAM'd onto my left lower leg.

And so the blade went in, a cm or 2, into the lower leg, with blood gushing out.

I didn't feel it hit, but it sure made me dizzy, the blood just gushed out, like a water from a fountain

And so I hopped

Hopped

To the sink, spurting blood all over.

And I propped my leg on the sink, getting dizzy as it is

Calling out for sis

Who came to bandage me.

She stopped the bleeding, improvised a tornique, and bandaged it.

Remember that scene in Saving Private Ryan? The one where their medic get injured severely, with blood spurting out from his numerous injuries? That sort of stuff.

According to sis, no vein nor artery was cut (I hope!), an indication of which was that the bleeding has stopped.

I'm keeping that blade in its handle, with my blood on it, as a token of today's bloody afternoon.

Pix of the knife will be posted soon.

(Yep, I am morbid hehehe)

Man I feel your pain! (well, not really on that part). I never like CA glue, so I always use model cement
