Hi guys! What material/chemical should I use to hardenned aluminum foil especially for replacing broken/bent side skirts/armor on certain German tanks? Using styrene and wrapping the foil around it doesn't feel right especially on curves, holes etc.

Hi , I wrote the article on using Alluminium foil , in the uk it come in three thicknesses , you may have to search out one of the thicker ones for the parts you wish to replace . try food dishes or those used to cook pies in they are usualy the best ones , otherwise the only way is to super glue to thin sheets together after you have cut out identical parts cheers ian

Instead of regular aluminum foil, go to the grocery and look for some of those disposable aluminum cooking pans. You should be able to recognize them because they are the same ones that take-away restaurants use. This foil is fairly thick, and can be used without any underlying support.

Shonen: I suggest you use the one used for Leche Flan, its a lot thicker and at the same time mealleable. Remember I used it as schurzen for my Panther. Its cheap and sturdy

Just to add on to the good advice given already . Shonen_red since your'e in a tropical country like myself, I'm assuming that roofs at your place are built similarly to here which is just before they place the roof tiles they put in a sheet of aluminium foil over the roof framework to prevent leaks.

You should be able to get at least 2 different thickness of foil from your hardware store and they come in rolls. Both are much thicker than cooking foils and those used for trays. They are still quite workable, cut and dent accordingly. By the way they make excellent simulated galvanized zinc sheets for tropical dio roofs.

Hope that helps.

as for the thicker foil, you can always hammer is down to a thinner thickness...which works for smaller pieces that you would use....ie. straps...
