Well, obviously someone on the Joint Staff is a member of the Forum. Today, plans were announced to move a brigade (2500-300 Soldiers) from Korea to Iraq. Another area of the world where we need to make better use of our forces by leaving.

We either need better security on this forum, or the Pentagon is desperate for new ideas!!!

My oldest son's unit, the "Tennessee Cavalry", 278th ACR is being mobilized on 21 June for deployment to Iraq. They will spend four months at Camp Shelby , Mississippi to train up. My son's impression is, "Camp Shelby, where the State bird is the mosquito!" He was cross-leveled from the 4th Squadron, which is not deploying, to the 1st Squadron. He is a SPC and a 63J, quartermaster and chemical defense equipment mechanic.

His mother insisted that I also go to keep an eye on him. I just can't convinve the USAR of this logic!

Jeff-- every guy here will keep your Son in his thoughts and prayers. My Son is going to the 101st from Korea this month. I assume they will re deploy in the near future. What do you think about starting athread on the work of the 9/11 Commission?

Steve-- what a great question. Gunnie, who usually participates in these discussions has always got insight observations on this area of the world. Hope he joins in to share his views with us. My short answer is that North Korea must be the smallest of the axis of evil powers`

Missed so much with cmputer being down for the count all week. Opinions I say pull out of Bosnia. That neck of the woods is wacko, my God it was the cause of WW 1 which led into WW 2. I guess this is hateful, but Kill them all and let God sort it out. Every 2 bit little ethnic group wants its homeland and kills everyone else to get it. Why are we still in the Siani? Who knows! Ship those folks to Iraq and free up some of the combat troops. I agree with Steve, why pull out a brigade from Korea. I think that South Korea and the North are starting to make headway, but unless the South Koreans are pressuring US to lighten our presence, I think we are preventing trouble there. There, that's my 50 cents worth. I agree with Half Yank. Why are we the worlds's policemem. If we tried minding our own business once in a while maybe we wouldn't be perceived as the world's bully right now. The vast majority of the world thinks we are arrogant, fat and lazy. They resent us always poking into everyone else's affairs. Maybe a bit of withdrawing and taking care of our own is in order right now. OK now everyone rip me apart...I've missed out on the fun all week.
