Hey guys,

Here's an idea for a material. Go to the local baseball diamond and get a container full of the nice brick dust that a lot of the parks are using now.

I just went at lunch and collected a botlle full. It's very fine (almost a powder) with a great variety of sizes and textures in the mix.

I'm going to use to go on top of wet celluclay for dio base materials (great for a desert scene) and to mix with paint and celluclay for some nice texture to my vehicle mud.

If you are doing a Vietnam (or Georgia!) scene, you don't even have to paint it at as the red color seems like a great match for the color of the dirt in those places.

Some of the powder if fine enough that you can use it like a pastel.

Like I said, there's a real variety of textures and sizes, so it should look great.

Let me know if anyone has used this or if you give it a try.

Steve

I should shake out my softball equipment bag. I get a lot of that red sand in there. Good idea.

Great suggestion Steve! That's one of those Dooph! things I guess. Been taking my son to the batting cages (he's going to be the next Maguire BTW ) and just never thought about that one...guess I gotta remind myself to remember to use those '1/35th scale eyes'.

Excellent Idea!!

Now I am looking around for similar dust coming from other locations to get a variation.
