Hi All:

I've heard that the Spielberg/Hanks team is working on a new HBO mini-series along the line of "Band of Brothers", this time in the Pacific Theater. Anyone heard anything about it?

I'm hoping that it will be on the Guadalcanal campaign. That could cover the war on land, sea and air, all in one series.

Best regards:
Charlie

Yes. It is true.
It is a new 10-part WWII miniseries, dubbed for now "Untitled World War II Pacific Theater Project", which is in the works at DreamWorks. It will be focusing on the real life exploits of one battalion of American soldiers during their campaigns in the second world war. It will follow them across the Pacific as they fight against Imperial Japan and onto final victory.
So, I'm sure there will be lots of battles told.

Sounds like great news. Really liked Band of Brothers, and I hardly think the pacific version can be much worse.

Only downside is that it probably will take a lot of years before someone thinks about airing the series here in Sweden.

Hope they feature some of the battles in the Philippines. If they followed the same D-Day theme as the first BOB they might be featuring McArthur's retaking of the Philippine islands.

Can't wait to see it as those two fellows seem to do a hell of a job no matter what they do.

We're prolly in the same boat here (Silja Line?) but at least there's the Internet for the DVDs if one gets impatient enough to wait for the subtitles...Excellent news no matter how long it takes to get distributed.
