Recently there was a post here that mentioned there was a known problem with Windows, possibly only Windows XP, about saving as other formats than .bmp. At work, on a Win 2K system, it gives me the choice of saving pictures to either .jpeg or .bmp. On my two XP systems it only gives the option of .bmp. I know somebody mentioned this somewhere on Armorama but I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

you can open it w/ MS paint (comes w/ windows) and do a save as......(change the file type)

You need to clean out your Temporary Internet Files. To solve, simply clean out the directory.
At the top of IE go to >Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files.

Thanks Matt, that is what I've been doing it the last couple days. What I'm talking about is say you right click on a picture and choose "save picture as." Normally that should give you an option of what file type you want to save as, jpeg or bmb, but on my XP machines it isn't.

You can also use the "copy "command from the right click drop down and "paste" the image into your favorite picture editor then do a "save as" command to the format you want.

I've been getting the same problem in xp. I fixed it by cleaning out my temp internet files, and I could save as .jpg again.

Something is stilll not quite right though, since sometimes I'll right click -'save picture as' and it will only let me save as a .bmp, then if I use my back button and then open the photo again it will save as .jpg.

It must be something else as well as the temp internet files to be so random.
