WW2 dio on ebay Somebody posted this link on the sherman yahoo group. Figures are painted to a professional standard (?) but take a look at the boogies on the sherman. Starting price for this dio is $95.
Some people here could make a fortune!

Ohh yea - Some people here COULD make a lot of money (and some do too). On the flip side, some people 'out there' could loose a lot to - like $95!!!!!!!! Yikes.
I've seen that person post a number of dioramas built to 'collectors standard' whatever that means???? As the ebay moto goes - Let The Buyer Beware!

First thing I saw was the guy with the Panzershrek has a target and he's wide open to return fire

AND his buddy behind him is about to have one heck of a bad day if Shrekkie lets loose.

Looks like he'ssold quite a number of his dios although he has really increased the price on this one. The others were in the $50-70 range

Looks like he put the final drive housing on upside down, then glued on an idler and the spare track rack. Note the idler and other suspension parts are missing. Yow ... this is jacked up.
I'd give him partial credit if he at least put the models together according to instructions, but this looks really awful.
I can't imagine someone forking over $95 for this, but like P.T. Barnum once said, "There's a sucker born every minute."

For a long time I watched really bad dioramas and figures go on ebay for really high prices and thought....man these guys must be really stupid........buyers especially but also these people who build them and call them all the great self professed catch phrases....museum quality....collectors standard...professional.
Now...I who have done work for many Canadian war museums and have work in private collections all over the world...thought if these guys could do it.....I can make a killing on here with my stuff.....I put up 1 piece I thought was 1 of my best......low opening bid.....1 week auction......no bids......relisted it for another week....again....no bids......I just don't get it...crap sells at high prices......good stuff at low prices...doesn't sell....go figure???
I love the smell of plastic and glue in the morning.

It don't figure at all Grant, as per the discussions we've had on messenger. I did a scratchbuilt building & base that a company was interested in moulding from, but the deal fell through. Didn't even get a bid on Ebay when I moulded it myself, yet some other guy has been selling lumps of featureless plaster ! Empty boxes selling for what I would expect to pay for one with the kit still in it, items selling as 'collecters items' even when still available from the shop down the road.
I just don't get some of the things that I see on Ebay, but someone must be buying them! I certainly won't be offering any of my completed work on there, even though my 13 year old son could better some of the stuff I've seen as 'pro-built'

Words fail me.....Jim #:-)
The world has gone mad. For the more discerning amongst you, you will notice that one of the (ahem..) Germans is just about to destroy the (ahem) Sherman with a bottle of washing up liquid.
The German behind the Panzerschreck is about to get turned into crispy critter.... All of the Germans all appear to be wearing some fetching version of gaiters as well... Thanks for sharing this 'Meisterwork' with us... This is one of the first images I have seen this morning and I don't know whether to go back to bed or face the world with a smile on my face.....Jim #:-)

It's just possible that there may be a little fakery going on here. Now I'm not saying that the person who is selling this dio did do this, only that they could. I've heard of fake bidding driving up to prices of items. Ebay, and other auctions, seem to be driven on emotions. Somebody could start the bidding going with a fake bid or two to drive the price up then wait for things to escalate. The way some people get caught up in a buying frenzy this can easily get things going.
As for the dio itself maybe Staff Jim is missing a bet here. If he had people donate un-needed finished projects to Armorama maybe he could make a bundle to keep this site going strong by selling them on ebay.

Rodger, I suggested this some time ago and it never went anywhere. I suggested a "Campaign: Fund Raiser." All the participants would build something and after submitting photos auction it off on Ebay and donate the money to the site.
I am not Ebay savy enough to do much more than toss out the idea.

Everytime i see a finished model or dio for sell i compare it to what the TopGuns of Armorama build and is always worst much worst. Some times is worst from what i build. This says to me that people that respect the hobby and are really good builders do not sell their artworks after having spend hundreds of hours on them., Is totally different to build on order and get the money than to built for fun and then sell the fun item. So people that buy ready made stuff should be more carefull what they buy and the standards of it. Even more they shouldnt buy at all these items . Just my opinion.

I noticed that there were no bids on that thing. The figures are really toy-like, and the diorama is really sloppy. Too bad.

AW come on cut the guy some slack......
The tank got hit with a RPZB 54 RAKETENPANZERBUCHSE..........
hence the boggies got blown backwards.....
while blowing off two wheels.......
but the tracks are still a continuious loop, eventhough....
there is a run of links on the ground in front of the track.........
As for poor fritz behind the "panzerknockeroutter"......
the "panzerknockerouter", just found out that fritz has been doing something he shouldn't
have been doing, on his last leave to Berlin, (where the "panzerknockeroutter" is from, and has a loney wife) so has been quitely waiting for the perfect chance to fry fritz.......
All in all, an rather interesting dio............
LOL...... think I'll save the 95 bucks, and buy a new fishing pole.......... LOL
