Removing rivets

I have the Academy M3A1 Stuart kit and was wondering,what would be the best way to remove those rivets The photos I have seen of the real thing was welded I could sand them off,but that may damage the parts If possible I would like to shave them off and keep them
If i do shave them off,what would be the best type of X-Acto blade to do that?

I have an Exacto blade made for chiseling. I have used it for removing rivets, but it was only two rivets. I also have a seem scraper from Squadron. If you take good care, i would think you could use these items.

You could try some kind of chiseling tool, as Petro said, but I would guess it would leave marks on the plastic #:-)

I use an Xacto blade # 17:

Works like a charm for those pesky rivets!

Micro Mart makes a chisel especially for removing detail from plastic surfaces. It's about 4mm wide with rounded corners so you won't gouge the plastic or remove more than you wanted to. Last price check put it around $13.
