How do you get out of stock models?

Does anyone know where to get out-of stock models? For instance the DML German Communications Center (DR3826) or the DML Russian Z5 Truck with troops (DR9023)?? That kind of stuff...Of course I didn't want them before when they were all over the shelves...

Hi Steve

Some model shops specialise in "Loft Clearances". Comet Miniatures in the UK is good for this sort of stuff, so I'm sure there are US equivalents. Then there's always E-Bay ... never tried it, but I know a lot of folks pick up bargains there...

All the best

Steve-
Welcome to Armorama! About your question, the best way I know to get OOP kits is ebay...
If you are patient, you will eventually find what you are looking for (including the two you mentioned. I see them on ebay all the time). If you are good at auctions, you might even get them at bargain prices! Hope this helps :-) :-)

You could always try the Buy, Sell, or Trade Forum here on Armorama. I've always had luck with it.

Another option is shows/contests.

Also, try to PM forum member "alpenflage", listed in the member list below (page 4 o5 5 of the A names). He has an online site that specialises in armor and figures, especially DML/Dragon.

Pretty soon there is going to be some Italeri models on E-Bay under sporty 7106, he told me as soon as he gets things together he was going to put them on there, some are not even sold now, and some are. They are all still factory sealed, now I've already bought some from him, but he said he could keep better track of his stock going through E-Bay, most seem to be 1/35, and he also has ships of 1/700, and he also said something about getting some Testors also to put on there. Hope this helps.

I think you’d have good success going to shows and contests. I’ve found a lot of gems on the vendors tables.

But, if you go the e-bay route, search under “Toys and Hobbies”, then select “Model kits”, and then “Military”. That should give you a ton of selections.

Steve-o,

I get OOP stuff thru a combination of model contests, vendors have a lot OOP, hard to find stuff, often at great prices. I also have bought and sold a lot of stuuf on Ebay. ( The selling funded the buying) BUT BE WARNED - EBAY IS ADDICTIVE #:-)

For ebay, it is easy to signup and they have a search feature. You need to go to "browse", then "toys", then "models" then you can search by maunfacturer, scale, model name, medium (i search undr vacuforms now), etc.

Good luck. Fell free to PM me if you need any assistance.

Jeff
