I am curious how everybody stores their CA glue... I had mine in the original plastic bottle..but the glue clogged the tip..then is sealed the entire lid onto the bottle...when I tried to open the top it cracked off so I has to transfer the glue to a glass bottle with a "child proof" cap. Is this good enought to keep the glue in? How does everybody else keep the glue from curing and ruining the whole bottle?

Sean

PS-- the brand was "hot stuff"

I store mine in the original package, with the tip upwards. I make sure I clean the tips each time I use it.

Hi, Eagle has the right idea there in cleaning out the tip everytime you're done using it. I only buy the stuff in the little 0.5 oz. bottles, as I've had this stuff do some weird things when it gets old. When we buy this stuff we really has no idea just how long it's been sitting in a storehouse or on the store's shelf, so I only buy the absolute smallest amount I can at any one time.

Couldn't say how the transferring of it to another container would be. I think the main enemy to super glue is the amount of air it's exposed to over time. It may work out okay, and maybe not. Don't be surprised if the latter turns out to be the case.

Good luck and take care, Sgirty

Well I have 2 types....I have a medium CA which I store in its original container with the tip up.....but I also have a Gel Loc-Tite brand of glue....but it stores in its bottle with the tip down....seems to work in keeping the tip clear....maybe because its a gel rather than a liquid.

I store mine like Eagle's with the addition of putting them in an old jelly jar with with those silica gel packs. They help to pull any moisture out of the jar and prevent the glue from curing prematurely.

Kencelot,

So the gel packets are just in the jelly jar along with the bottle of glue? I assume a lid is on the jelly jar as well?

Yes, the gel packs are in the jar with the glue and the jar has a lid on it.
The gel packs work great at prolonging the life of the glue.

I get my CA glue from where I work. (gotta love those perks) It is made by Loctite.

We keep it refrigerated at work to avoid just this problem. The bottle I have at home I keep refrigerated also, and I have never had a problem yet with the tip clogging or the cap sticking.

Might be an idea to try.

I totally agree with boatswain that I always keep the CA in a fridge and every time I take it out to use without a problem.

I used to store mine in the fridge too, but I did not like the way it thickened because of being cold. You have to wait for it to get to room temp., and who likes to wait?
