Okay,

going from memory:

My first model-kit: Heller "Mayflower", to be built in cooperation with my dad.

My first "armor" kit: Tamiya WWII US MP set (the one with the Harley Liberator).
My first airplane: Revell 1/72 F-16 prototype. Here I first deviated from the manual, as colors were totally wrong. IIRC I even laid my hand on some AM decals to make it a Dutch plane.
My first car: Tamiya Ferrari F-something formula one car (the one with Nigel Mansell and Jean Alesi.
My first "real" armor: Tamiya Sd.Kfz. 251/1 Ausf D.

Kits from the early days to be finished or redone:

Heller "Vasa"
Monogram F-14 (to be replaced by another) in 1/48.
Academy 1/24 MG car.

I remember vaguely my first kit was a F 15. I was about 7 or eight then, of course back then I didnt even know what plane it was. Glued it together with superglue with plenty of gaping seams and didnt know that you could paint it. I still have it proudly displayed though coz thats what got me started.

I remember being a big Flying Tiger fan, seein a P40 at the AF Museum in Dayton OH and bringing home a Revell (Monogram?) 1/48th kit.
Dad and I at the kitchen table, tube glue, toothpicks, an emery board and a trip to the mysterious hobby shop for Testors square bottle brush paints.

I have no idea what happened to the kit, but I sure remember building it.

First kit I built myself, some old Model A (T?) car kit and a large scale 1/48 or 1/32 P51 finished at about the same time.

What a long strange trip it has been since then...

My first model was a Ford or Cadilac something or other with help from my dad. He did pretty much everything with me gluing a piece here and there. My first model without help was a 1/48 scale Revell (?) F-14A Tomcat. If I remember correctly, it was a level three kit with pe and everything. Hindsight told me that it looked ugly but when I was ten, it didn't really matter. In fact, I also remember I was really into Top Gun at that point, so there were numerous "air superiority" missions in the backyard.

My first kit was a red Revell '57 Chevy. Built it when I was about 10. Pretty much everything I built in my youth was a car of some kind. As I started getting older, kits tended to get "Road Warrior-ed" after we got tired of looking at them. Heating up finishing nails and sticking them into the plastic made good bullet holes and resembled crossbow bolts if you left them in. Ultimately, these kits would get mangled beyond much recognition and would never be seen again.
I didn't get into armor until this past summer, when I needed a diversion that didn't require a computer or a video game console. I had thought about model trains, but didn't have the space to set up a proper layout. Now I'm hooked.

The first that I can remeber was the F4D Skyray. I believe it was an Aurora kit. Late 50's I think.

Hmmmmmmmm, first model I ever built.... That was probably an Aurora model of a Boeing 707 that I built with my father when I was about 6 or 7. The first one I did all by meself was again another Aurora (about the only thing that a kid my age could afford with his allowance) of a Spitfire, I think it was. The only thing that I remember of building it was all the strings of glue from the tube that got all over my fingers and the fingerprints the were left all over the plane!!!!!!!! How far have I come..........

The first armor model I built was the Tamiya Jagdtiger. I was 28 and living in Japan at the time.

My daughters dragged me into a toy store and as we browsed I noticed the Tamiya kit. The info I had at the time said that only 48 were built. So I picked up the kit, clippers and glue and had at it when we got back to the apartment. Built the thing then discovered it could be painted. Back to the toy store and bought paint, brushes and the Tamiya Tiger 1 for good measure! That ws 1971 and I've been at it ever since.

I can't remember the manufacturer, but my first kit was a 1/72 scale starlifter and I was 8 years old. can't remember much except it was an easy kit and worked well with my match box cars. Is been 32 years since then and I'm still building only now I focus on armour.

when i was very young... somewhere between 5 and 10 i saw a snaptite.. probably 1/72scale and i build it up with no paint thinking it was really cool. i had a facination with war machines and how they evolved throughout history my whole life. that and i like little collectibles. display pieces etc... i was too young to remember the exact kit, but it seems like it was a fighter jet. f-14,f15, or f16. i think it was the f16, but im not sure. in the next couple years i just seemed to get better and better. more paints, proper glueing. my first armor model was about 5 years ago.. 1/72scale shermie. it was the first tank i saw for sale in this town. so i got it. since then ive prefered armor and ships... with the odd car

My 1st kit I helped with was a AMT/Ertl Firetruck that my dad was making when I was 6. That never got completed as parts got lost (I might have ate them, or something)

Then I got a F-105 ThunderChief at age 8 - Dad helped with that one, and we got into a big argument because he wanted to paint the machine gun on the side red. I wanted gun-metal...and showed him pictures of the real thing. To this day, I still spend more time being picky about accuracy than actually building anything!

One of my best models was the re-release of the AMT Ladder Truck. I built it up, got a shelf for it, and gave it Cleveland Fire Dept. Decals. turns out the randon number I chose for the truck was the same # of the one that was by our local firehouse in the 70s! I gave the model to my dad for Christmas, so we finally had a finnished one. Best $70 I ever spent!

My first model was actually a paper model of a BA-20, I think, I was making it with my dad, but we never got it done. My first plastic model was a 1/48 byplane, never got done either

My first models where 1/144 scale airplanes from WW2. My dad helped me build them and the first one I did myself was a Stuka if I remember right. I remember building a Monogram Wildcat or Hellcat in 1/48 scale with him also. He used to build himself but stopped after finishing the 1/48 scale visible B-17 from Monogram for me to hang over my bed. He also did an X-wing and a Tie Fighter for me when Star Wars came out and I was about 4 years old or so.

My first armor kit was a Hasagawa 1/72 kublewagon I got at a dollar store or something. It was the first kit I remember painting too...the wheels on it with those tiny testors bottles. I'm first "real scale" armor piece was the Monogram Screaming Mimi Sherman.

I was limited to going to Kmart for my models since I didn't have a hobby shop in town and lived off what ever they had in stock at the time. I finally got a somewhat decent hobby shop in one of the local Malls and my first really serious armor kit with zimmerit done by heated screw driver was the old Tamiya Panther A. That was in 1987 or so.

I've been building nothing but armor since then with only taking a short break in 1993 to 1995 when I was graduating High School and going though Basic Training and my schooling for the Army. I picked up the hobby again when I had the time too while in the Army.

The first kit I built by myself was a Snap-tite F-15 I got in my easter basket one year. I was probably six or seven.

Before that I'd "helped" my dad work on other kits, but that was my first solo effort.

IIRC, it had stickers instead of decals, but they were silly - big American flags and stripes for the wings. I didn't put them on.
