The Discovery Channel? Pfffffft... you need better sources. The Discovery Channel is like a sales brochure sometimes. And they're hardly perfect. Get your facts straight before you shoot off with such outlandish, sweeping claims. Now, wasn't that act of yours 'pride'?

Oh, how I missed that documentary 15 years ago (Video Ordnance: Firepower). When I was in the US, they had another documentary (hosted by the late George C. Scott of Patton fame) titled Brute Force. They both feature military weaponry.

Give the kid a break. At any rate, he's right Fritzie boy. If you really want to know about the stuff you're talking about, documentaries like Discovery Channel do not give you the full story. Read brochures, technical manuals, etc. Anyways, you're still young and you have much more to learn. Hmmmm we seem to be indulging you so much you may wanna take up Engineering someday. LOL.

Engineering!!!!!! I really don't know but AFAIK there is a truckload of math involved in that course that's why I'm decided on Architecture (less math).

Parehas din yon. You still have to take up math. I am an eng student and I learned how to love math after feeling the downs of not studying :-)

Trust me: Engineering is one of the best courses to go into. You'll have lots of nuts-and-bolts (i.e. practical) knowledge. Architecture is nice, but engineering has more potential and what you learn from it you can apply in a lot of areas such as business. I know a lot of engineers who are also good at business - probably because of the math and the theoretical side of engineering. One of them was my late uncle who told me I should take up engineering. Unfortunately, I was a hard-headed kid and took up polisci - which isn't a good pre-law course. Had I taken up eng, I might've done better in law school or even have been a successful engineer (not bragging).

I must agree. Engineers are flexible - business, arts etc. Kaya eng kinuha ko is because of modeling :-)

I couldn't agree more, GI. He's right Fritz. Like it or not, you will still get a taste of math in college, especially in the courses you intend to take. Me, I took the easier way out (Liberal Arts). LOL.

But if you're the type who has an inclination for tech stuff, Engineering (or Computer Studies) is the way to go. So, better brush up on your math, kiddo if you want to be eligible for those courses (plus architecture).

GI: I know how you feel. My dad and uncle finished engineering, so did several of my male cousins. I'm not more into math. I'm a bookworm (kaya nga liberal arts kinuha ko), AB Pol-Sci, now working on an MA in History.

Hey Fritz,

I agree with the rest of the guys. Engineering is a profitable course for any future career choice. You just have to make sure that you can hurdle the challenge of the Math subjects. It's a good undergraduate degree for any post-graduate studies. Some U.P. law professors actually prefer law students with engineering diplomas. They say that they have a more structured mind. Also, there are some really pretty students in the UP college of engineering. One example is Nafsika Dressou (the girl in the San miguel "baby toy" commercial). Moreover, the women eng students are the top-notchers.

As for me, I was a liberal arts student. So, I finished a Pol. Sci. and European languages Degree. Despite having "math whiz" parents, I could never handle the language of math. The numbers just really never talked to me. On hindsight, a degree in Economics would have been more flexible. I thought of continuing into law but it was'nt in my heart. Plus, i was getting sick of schooling.

Anyway, I just really enjoyed my undergraduate days. It was mostly parties/girls with smatterings of book work. LOL!! Seriously....despite studying hard and internalizing the lectures, I made sure that I did not miss out in the once in a lifetime college experience. Once your old, you can never go back and experience the same thing. I know someone who was a suma cum laude in biology but was a member of a sorority, 2 clubs, and did civic work. Imagine this girl had straight "uno" while in college and had the looks to boot! My secret was that I internalized the reading materials and lectures, I rarely did memorization. This technique helped me have good marks on most graded requirements. It's all about being organzed and going to lectures and examination prepared and with the right frame of mind.

Anyway Fritz, enjoy yourself for now. At your age, I was worrying about my Algebra class and not ruining the paint job on my models.

Come to think of it, I still worry about the same thing; making sure that the numbers come out right in the profit/loss sheet and not ruining the paint job on my models. :-)

Cheers,
Wanze

fritz,

share ko lang din, my father is a civil engineer and he's in abroad right now (KSA). I know he's kinda dissapointed with me when i didnt take an engineering course. Com Sci kse pinili ko. But i know, mas importante yung freedom of choice namin. Still, engineering is one of the oldest profession (prostitution the other one, JOKE!) and i bet it will improve your analytical and mechanical thinking. They say you're a good modeler what more if you'll apply ur knowledge in educated engineering? pucha lufet mo nun. I believe, 2 lang ang engineering noon, Civil and Military. SO fritz if ever, join the engineering core!

Well, Im proud of my course also. Very versatile. A little bit broad pero at least madali na lang mag self study. Comsci is a good alternative. Just focus in what area ull concentrate. Example if it's web page making, programming etc...

and lastly.... ano nga ulit tong thread na to? :-) :-) :-)

I also agree with you guys about engineering. With all the techstuff going around this world, engineering course getting more significant. But architecture is still my type! #:-) #:-)

Hey Fritz...

Good choice.. If you say Architecture . :-) .... One good Spanish designer is Santiago Calatrava(actually he is an engineer by traning) but you'll be amazed with his abstract sculptural buildings...

I wish you the best of luck there. But, do keep an open mind. My advice for you is, if you're planning to choose a career path, choose one that is consistent to your calling in life. Otherwise, you will never be happy. I know you've got a long way to go but it pays to be far-sighted. Better that than near-sighted.

Anyway, on tanks again, maybe one of you guys (Buck and Wanze in particular) might be interested in doing this in 1/72 hehehe #:-)
