That's me clowning around on the right as an infantryman in the Irish army on border duty in 1982. The food, uniforms and equipment were all terrible but we had a lot of fun

I am 3SG(3rd Sergeant) Erizemen, i am 24, i served my national service with the Singapore Armed Forces from June 2002 till October 2004. I started at basic training and ended my tour as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant. It was the best 28 months of my life, i didnt want to leave. I almost stay in the army but the contract wasn't what i wanted though I wanted to be a soldier all my life. I have no regrets leaving the army but i do miss my men, my officers and my fellow specialist who served with me till the end.
I am a Fire Rescue Specialist now, still a sergeant but firefighters are not soldiers and will never understand the feeling of waking up in mud and the only pleasant scenery is the guy next to you. They will never understand the feeling of moving forward towards an objective with the ground pounding from the arty and the rounds flying over head. I can say it on and on...but i am sure most of us here know what i mean.

Something that my men made for me before i left. A poster

HI all I forgot when I sent my pic a long time ago in here. I said OIF when i actually meant OEF (operation Enduring Freedom), and yes i was there for the Balakatan in 2002...... I spent alot of time there against the ABu sayyaf. I actually was flying over the site where Abu sabbya was killed, when the raid took place.

Here's my contribution to this thread.

Served in the Singapore Combat Engineers (1995 - 1998) as a bridging engineer for the M2B amphibious company. My official role was a raft commander when 3 x M2B coupled together to form a raft.

These photos were taken during a display of engineer power back in 1997

This is how the M2B looks like when launching into the water obstacle.

Not a very good photo but this is the raft loading some APCs.

There's me standing next to what was then my favourite engineer equipment...the CEV.

and finally the amored vehicle launch bridge which was somewhat impressive so i took a photo of it.

Great photo. I was assigned to the Security Police unit there. Williams was a very nice base to be stationed at.

Yes it was. Four Peaks ought to just be off picture to the R.

I went back last year--it has really changed since the university took over. I even went to "Head Pin", the aux field down Coolidge-Florence way. How things have aged...

Here's some photos of my service. All I have right now are a few scanned photos taken since 1989. I'll try and get some from my earlier years. I first join on Jan. 11, 1975 in the reserves (Troop D 5 Cavalry, 187 Inf Bde Sep, Ft. Devens MA.) and ended when I retired on July 31, 1996 at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Taken during our flight (3 Bn 17 Inf, 7 Inf. Div Light) for Operation Just Cause.

Taken Jan 89, Sgt Villarreal (in front) and myself (SSG Geer) exiting from a Cave. We had just completed a search of the cave for suspected weapons cache.

Taken Jan 90, during Operation Just Cause, somewhere in the the Panamian Jungle. We had just completed a 24 hour cordone and search mission.

In 1997, I put on a new unifrom. One of a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts of America
