I just found out tonight that AOL has blacklisted our domain for email. This means any email sent from myself, other staff members or the site in general is not reaching your normal inbox but it being saved in your spambox. If you click the link on your mail screen (lower left) and click the "Not Spam" email then future emails from "armorama.com" will be allowed to pass thru.
I apologize for this problem. AOL has a "wonderful" system for users to report spam. Unfortunately some of these users report everything in their inbox because they don't look too closely (or are being vindictive). This could also be happening with other mail services like MSN (Hotmail), Yahoo, etc. If you don't manage your spam mail settings there is no telling what you are missing these days. Even some of the A-Mail I get from the online contact form on this site is wrongly tagged by my own spam detection software (so I have Outlook re-filter it and send it along).
Oh...and feel free to contact AOL and tell them of their error in blocking Armorama's mail.
Cheers,
Jim

My official staff_rob e-mail goes directly to my AOL address. I've never had it end up in the spam folder.

Rob,
On further poking around AOL I think you have to turn on the "Block Unwanted Mail" feature. Then AOLs automated spam filter (as opposed to the ones you set manually) starts moving things to the spambox. But yes I noted that on my AOL I got some signup emails without a problem.
Cheers,
Jim

Blocked? Hmm...is he here in the US or in UK?
If he didn't get his signup email he needs to look in that Spam mail folder that the AOL mail screen has a link to.
I do have some old IPs in the blocker from recent "problems" we had. I suppose I can unblock those now.

Hi Jim
He tried to log on from a college library in the UK. To be honest, he's not the most "computer literate" person I know... , but I'll try to get more detail next time I see him, so we can pin this down.

Hmm...I can't imagine why a public library would be blocking the site. Very odd.

This issue is topical again as I have a user who is asking why I never replied to his support request of Jan 22. When in fact I did reply on that day and my mail obviously went to his AOL spam box.

Another reason to hate spammers. The only thing I use AOL for is hosting my website and my "scale modeling" email. I'll be mailing them as soon as I finish reading the forums here.
Thanks for the info Jim.

I've actually had my personal email 'blocked' from sending to AOL addresses, for a couple of days until I complained to them. They said that it was because I had distributed unwelcome emails, the reality is that I receive about 40 emails a day with porn content or advertising chemicals to increase certain parts of my anatomy. The majority of these are filtered by my ISP into a seperate folder which I can check and clear. Over 90% of these are from AOL email addresses so I forwarded the whole lot for a week to AOL HQ (with covering text of course to explain my actions). As you may guess they were not keen on receiving these, neither am I !.

IF you are having your armorama mail blocked by AOL, just go into spam, select the message and mark it as "NOT JUNKMAIL", and all future mail will make it through fine....
