Since we all got our gifts dis' christmas I guess you guys are planning what project to start on or maybe thinking how many kits you gonna build dis year or maybe what you plan to add to your skills or wish to master.. Bottom line is whatever you do this year it's gonna be another year of fun and excitement.
Okay, here's my projects this year.. #:-)
1)Israeli "Beep" vehicle(posted a few months back)...finally I got enough research materials. It's gonna be one comprehensive conversion using a 1/35th AFV Dodge "Beep" Vehicle my only problem is the 5 FN Mag MG. And the road wheels.
2) US M41 "Gorilla" Howitzer another conversion using 2 kits Testors/ Italeri 155mm Howitzer and an Italeri M-24 Chafee
Hopefully and realistically, I wish I can add more but as soon as I am done with this 2, then I still have 2 more models in mind and that's it.
Here's the idea.. I guess by putting this project list we can share some additional info, tips or research materials, this will come in really handy

1. DML Early Jagdpanther with Tristar Panzer Crew - the Jagdpanther was a gift from She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed and I bought the crew figures for it. Hope I do justice to them. It will be my first zimmerit project. Good thing the pattern is a very simple checkerboard.

2. DML MLRS mit PE - still don't have the guts to tackle this one. Waiting for the digicam so I can fully document this.

3. DML T-34/76 - when it becomes available. Still looking for screens.

Hope none of these projects get moved to 2005

Sigh... many times I have done such a list, but alas I fail to follow it. Like this 2003 - I was supposed to be done with almost all of my models - but no, I failed. If I do not finish "Stalin's Hammer" or the T34/105 in time, 2003 saw only the completion of the Strv103B, SA-9 Gaskin Mod-A, and the upcoming Porsche Boxster.

On to the list:

1) M1A2E1 Thunderbolt - this is definitely for 2004 already. I have yet to put the ammo boxes for the 3 .50-calibre, and I screwed up big time on the hull front. That, plus a busted airbrush, means this will be an early TW2K:04 entry.

2) King Leopard - again, another supposedly-for-TW2K:03-entry-but-fell-into-Shadow. Will fix the bore evacuator, add smoke launchers, and rig up a twin MG3 mount (or give the TC a .50-cal).

3) Black Eagle - Well, no wheels yet as of this time. I'm particularly eager for this to be done. The turret was completely scratchbuilt, along with the Brod-M deep wading trunk. To be done on this project: revised Arena cartridges (the current ones I made were too small for my tastes), Shtora jammers, the wheels and tracks.

4) Operation Abrams Campaign - set to start on 14 Feb. 04, my entries will be a Dragon 1/72 M1A1HA converted to M1A2 and (if I have the guts) scratchbuild a mine plow; and a Revell 1/72 M1A1HA OOTB.

5) British Commonwealth Campaign - the "Biggie" of next year, two 1/35 models - a Tamiya Challenger I Mk. 3 to be done in ODS, and a Trumpeter Challenger II done in NATO camo scheme. Set to end on June I think (summer will be a very busy time).

6) TW2K:04 Campaign - aside from the TW2K:03 left-overs mentioned above, I'm planning to build some bast*rdized models again. What that will be, I dunno, but a Humvee LOSAT, and modifications done to two M113 kits here are in mind. TW2K:04 is envisioned to be focused this time in Korea (think Second Korean War) and the Middle East (where, according to the draft storyline I have in mind, Israel and Egypt are allied together, against basically everyone in the ME).

7) 1/35 Revell PzH2000 - I really want this done. An impressive kit, I hope I do justice to it. Currently, I messed up with the tracks and need to fix 'em (they're too soft).

8) Phew! TW2K:03 Storyline. Ok, not exactly on models, but I'm basically the "editor-in-chief" of this side-project to TW2K:03. So far, good progress. I hope it ends up into a novella of sorts. It involves stories involving the projects made in the TW2K:03 campaign.

9) First-ever scratchbuilt model. Still a surprise on what subject it will be, it's small, wheeled, and in 1/35. I already have the info I need. Now all I need are the materials - lots of sheet styrene.

10) Finally, a new airbrush - assuming my current one is totally dead . It'll be a 175 Crescendo (because I've gotten used to it), but I'll keep my options open and might get instead a Gunze Procyon DA airbrush.

Yes, a lot on me plate (like last year). It remains to be seen how many in this list will be done.

1.) Purchase, lest I run out of funds from the X-mas and New Year loot -- the Tamiya Nissan R34 and Nissan Calsonic R34 GT car-kits from Lil's Megamall. If some funds eventually pour in, maybe also get the Pennzoil R34 and the PIAA Accord kit. Damn the decals just look too furious.

*Sir Byron, if you recall me saying something about a WRC Subaru Rally-car kit I was telling you about which was really nice -- the kit you have which is IIRC the 2002 WRC Impreza, IS the kit I was talking about. Would you mind selling off some of your "excess" kits! haha!

2.) Purchase a decent Air Brush, if I plan to further endulge into AFV modelling -- which I do.

3.) Finish my overdue Honda Civic EK-9 HB, one last top-coat and some interior detailing, and this baby's set to go.

4.) Get down to finishing, also, my modified Ford Thunderbird.

Before everything of course, the damned thesis has to be finished.

Hehehe looks like we "cross converted" hehehe :-) I'm considering building yet another car kit - the Tamiya Mercedez or that red Porsche looks very tempting, very tempting indeed :-) - after enjoying doing the Porsche Boxster.

Here's my list:
1) DML Panther A- Every review I read PRAISED this model. It is probably the most accurate Panther A to date.
2) A new airbrush- Tamiya Sprayworks or a Badger 200 are the top choices so far.
3) Tamiya's about-to-be-released 1/16 Modern American Infantry (OIF)
4) There is no no. 4 #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-) #:-)

Hahaha, better post some pictures of that Porsche Boxter you made, I haven't been able to ask about specifics of what you did eh.

Which Tamiya Mercedez? Which Porsche? Where do you scrounge for these car kits you've been talking about? I would like to point you to SM Megamall, since the Lil's branch there has got to have one of the widest, and might I say, best selections of cars I've seen -- so far.

I'm making a POS system with an integrated Inventory and Delivery system (commissary -transactions) which is supposed to be able to forecast specific data sensitive to a manager's decisions during operation. Hehe! Now that didn't really sound interesting noh? It's pretty hard, since my group is tasked to come up with the system from scratch. And as of the moment, not too many people employ these stuff into their operations -- so research material is pretty limited.

Jomz: Will post pix of Porsche Boxster once I'm done with it. :-) As of this post, interior and the rubber lining has been painted. All that is left is painting the chassis with black (I'm thinking of using my Pylox can here), then paint the windshield, then attach said windshield to frame, then attach the lights and other clear parts, decals, clear coat, and I'm done! Really, a few more items to do. The build is purely OOTB, BTW.

I'm, thinking of acquiring my next car kit from JMN.

On your thesis - POS system? I reckon POS means something positive - and not a, uh, negative description of an object, if you know what I mean. :-)

GIB

POS is Point-of-Sales Systems. Cashier machines are POS systems, as well as those touchpad thingies in restaurants.

jomz

Forecast data? Based on past data I surmise? What expert system do you plan to use to implement that?

======

My to buy list:

a) A decent airbrush, probably the Tamiya Sprayworks basic set.
b) pin vise

My project list:

1) 1:48 Academy F14 A - I already have a VF-23 CAG bird scheme from SuperScale decals waiting for this baby. Hopefully I can start this within the first quarter.

2) 1:24 Tamiya Volvo 580 Estate - For some weird reason, I find this grannymobile interesting. Would probably be more interesting if it's painted purple.

3) 1:35 Dragon M1A1/A2 - First tank kit I'll try out, if ever.

4) 1:144 Academy F-14A - Cute little one weekender

These depend on the performance of Scopa Decal Paper when I get to purchase it:

5) 1:48 Monogram AV-8B Harrier - Have to reconstruct a lot of decals

6) 1:144 Doyusha Boeing 747-400 - All Nippon Airways decals come with the kit, but I might crazily attempt to reproduce the 2001 ANA Pokemon scheme (cutest damn scheme splattered onto a jumbo jet ever!)

7) 1:24 Tamiya Volkswagen New Beetle "Swinger 2" Conversion - to be painted with the Austin Powers 2 flower power scheme.

Realistically speaking, probably just 3 of these projects will be finished within the year. Depends on my mood and my work schedule

LaTHex,

A watch repair supplier is the best place to purchase a new pin vise, Ask Jeepney and he'll tell you where. Price wise it's cheaper than Tamiya pin vise(syempre name brand) and a huge selection of pin vise to fit even the smallest drill bit. I got mine back in '92 and left 2 more back home

NONE! Hehe!

I have to find a way to simulate specific post-data from sales-reports (IN theory the POS should be able to generate the data and pass it on to my system). I still have a lot of research to do, mainly on operations research, since I have to figure out a way wherein the forecasts follow a specific algorithm other than average-ing which is the weakest way of forecasting.

Oh my, what am I going into, hehe! Tama na discussions on my thesis.

Lattex: Thanks for telling me what POS means in the engineering world. In some discussion forums, POS means "Piece Of Sh*t", hence my query on subject.

Jomz: Is this a one man thesis - or are you working as a group? Can you give me a copy of it when you're done defending it?

BTW, sorry, can't resist asking about your thesis. These things are admittedly interesting to read - especially if well written, regardless of the technical terms and such. Now, if you know someone whose course is MFI, maybe he or she can secure me (clandestinely) a copy of a particular thesis that I really want to read. Something on SEAsian currency fluctuations and such. I know the names of two of the three co-authors of the thesis, so that'd make the search easier.

As for the pin vise, I need to get meself as well a new set of bits. I lost the two which Jeep bought me a few months ago. I think the answer to "Where?" can be found at the "Notable Finds" thread or at the "Stores" thread.

Forgot to add to my list:

Urban Combat Variant Abrams - I'll be giving it a 120mm or 152mm breech loaded mortar in lieu of the 120mm gun, a redesigned CITV (ball this time, for 360-degree "All Aspect" vision, i.e. top, side, etc - something like the FLIR mount on the Apache), add-on armor, more smoke grenades, and redesigned TC's cupola (will give him a set of quad .50s - perhaps use the 1-meter turret of the AAVP-7A1 - of course modified to get carry the four .50s.), and finally a dozer blade (might use the M9 dozer blade by Academy) or rig up a battering ram. Yes, crazy project alright. :-)

Oh yes, also been mulling on doing a scratchbuilt 1/72 or 1/48 Predator UAV/UCAV. Looks pretty straight forward to do. Again, materials are the problem, but there's lots of reference pix available - thanks especially the recent wars.

I'm working with a group, but I'm pretty much the point-man. Haha!

With regards to the thesis, let's see what I can do, since most of the people I know from MFI have graduated already -- IT being a short course ha, hehe!

I can give you a copy of the thesis for around 50,000 haha! I'm planning to sell it to a food-service company after we finish it, eh.

SR JU 88 of Italeri raised panel lines but w/ good details & Harrier of Hasegawa recessed panel lines, good details & as usual decals yung mga control panel, parehong maganda at ewan ko lang sa fitting, pero ang Hasegawa mostly maayos ang fitting nya.

2) Four or five 1/48 IJN and IJA aircraft that were based in the Philippines during WWII
3) three 1/48 P-26A Peashooters, PAAC (309, 303, and 305)
4) M1A1 HA and two M1A2 Abrams (pagawa yung isa)
5) 1/48 Tamiya Beaufighter Mk-XXI - RAAF, based at Sanga-sanga island, Tawi-Tawi
6) 1/35 M-10 TD (pagawa din)
7) Finish what's still in my workbench (another 4 kits)
8) Another British Spitfire or my 1/24 Airfix Hurricane

Add this to my list:

F-25 - an SR-71/YF-12 converted for Anti-Satellite missions. Essentially, a YF-12 with extended weapons bay to carry a single, solid-fueled rocket with a heat-seeker guidance unit and some fins to steer its way towards the nuclear reactor of a RORSAT. The SR-71/YF-12 will have a FLIR mounted just in front of the canopy. Hopefully, my first AC model in a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time. It'll be in 1/72 or 1/100. For the Twilight 2000:04 Campaign.

Hi guys,

Hmmm, my New Years resolution in the hobby are:

1.) Finish my Finemolds 1/72 Tie Fighter
2.) Finish my AMT/ERTL Shuttle Tyderium
3.) Finish my AMT/ERTL Mellenium Falcon
4.) Start a couple of AFP AFV's in 1/72 or 1/76
5.) A couple of super detailed 1/72 models (secret muna)
6.) Finish an OOB 1/76 Matchbox "Honey"
7.) Finish an OOB 1/76 Matchbox "Char Bis 1"

I do hope to accomplish the first two soon for the Winter group build at the Sci-Fi discussion group. Anyway work permitting, I hope to accomplish them by the end of the year.
