Speaking of Bond though, I have never got this down right. Who was the first Bond?

Unofficially, it was an American named Barry Nelson (Casino Royale). It was released as early as 1961 IIRC. Bond here was a CIA man. His contact man and friend Felix Leiter was a Brit (get a load of this).

When you're talking about the "official" Bond, these are the ones produced by Albert "Cubby" Broccoli. These are the recognized "Real Deals." Sean Connery is the first (Dr. No) in 1962. Here's where the roles get switched. Bond is the Brit and Leiter (played here by Jack Lord of the Hawaii 5-O fame) plays the CIA man.
