Ok, who do you folks think was the best "Bond, James Bond.?" Connery, Moore, Dalton, Bronson, or the guy I can't remember?

I think the name you're looking for is George Lazenby (On Her Majesty's Secret Service). For completeness sake, you should include David Niven, though I don't count Casino Royale as a "Bond" movie.

My own choice: Connery

My vote has to go to Connery . My two favorites with him as Bond are "Gold Finger" and "From Russia With Love". I did like Moore in his earlier films like "Live and Let Die.

Connery, Moore, and Brosnon. Dalton sucked big time, or at least I think he did. And out of the three listed, Sean would probably have to be the godfather of Bond.

Some one watching 7 Days of BonD?

My favourite would have to be Connery although I do think Lazemby could have made the role his own if he had kept on playing it. Connery's Bond gave a real sense of having a killer instinct and this was helped in the early films with some really brutal [for their time] fight scenes, eg the fight scene with Robert Shaw on the train in From Russia With Love. The early Bond films managed to have the fantasy elements such as the gadgets and women but still had a feel of real danger about them which since the early seventies has sadly gone.

I like Brosnon best of all - though he's newer than the rest. I like the dangerous, vindictive, way he plays the character. He's cold and distant - but not aloof. He also handles himself quite well in dealing with "M". He sets a different "tone" for Bond - like a playful cobra...

Sean Connery would be my second favorite with Roger Moore coming in a close third. His uninspired play in Moonraker soured it for me. But, then again, Moonraker was probably a movie looking for a script...

Didn't like Dalton or Lazenby in the role, and didn't consider Niven in the bunch...

I think I will be the only person that picks Timothy Dalton! Maybe the two films he was in weren't the best Bond films, but I really like how he played the character. OK, let the hate fly!

Roger Moore would be a close second, if not tied for first.

Maybe this is because these are the movies I grew up with and saw at the theater. Connery was only on small screen re-runs for me.

Who's the best actor overall is another matter though...

For what it's worth I like Connery the best, followed closely by Brosnon. I watched part of The World is not enough the other day and was impressed by how Brosnon was cold and calculating, and very deadly.

Same here, I like Connery the best, but Brosnon is moving up the ladder quite quickly. Actually, he didn't have too far to move up. I dislike Roger Moore...just can't watch him playing Bond. Not sure why though?

I will third the VOTE for Connery, Bronson and then Moore, Though I thought he was a little wimpy in the majority of his Bond Roles. Even though I did like him in The Man with The Golden Gun best..

Connery follewed by Lazenby (although the script and direction helped a lot). Worst is Moore, Brosnan's movies are 2-hour adverts for various high-end consumer products. Buy Another Day anyone?...Jim

Connery with Moore a very close 2nd. Brosnan... new blood, he delivers but what depresses me so much is the way the character is being written. The last Bond film ruined the Bond mystique that Bond always gets away.

Notwithstanding the years and settings, I'd still pick Sean Connery as the best Bond actor to date. No one seems to come close to him. Not bad for a Scotsman to play an English super agent.

Pierce Brosnan comes in second. He seems to make Bond more human though.

Roger Moore, though he is a true-blue Englishman, should have not played Bond anymore in the later years. The last good Bond movie he made was Moonraker. To give Moore some credit, I kinda liked his one-liners.

Even funnier seeing an Irishman playing an English super agent.
Id still go for Connery though. Brosnan second and dalton/moore joined third. I have seen the lazenby film but remember absolutely nothing about it. Does this mean something??

I think George Lazenby did not get much exposure after making one Bond movie. I wondered why Albert Broccoli picked him. He could barely hide his Aussie accent in the movie IIRC.

Casino Royale seemed more of a comedy than a typical Bond movie. Considering that Bond here (Niven) is now old and retired.

For the record, I like Bond movies by Sean Connery, especially "Goldfinger" and "You Only Live Twice."

For my favorite villain/henchman: My vote goes to the "indestructible" Jaws played by Richard Kiel. Oddjob was also cool though.

Just to change the subject a bit, the best "Bond Girl" for me is Michelle Yeoh (Wei Lin). in Tomorrow Never Dies. This is one gal who does not melt in Bond's arms easily and kicks butt too. Jinx (Halle Berry) comes next. The worst is Tanya Roberts (Stacey Sutton) in View to a Kill. Hardly did anything.

FWIW....Connery first, followed by Lazenby/Dalton tie for second, Brosnon third, Moore....well, he was good only in Live and let Die (which was the first I every saw on the big screen).

Bad guy #1: Auric Goldfinger..."No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!"

Lol I thought you guys were all talking about Charles Bronson because you all were spelling Pierce Brosnan's last name that way, "Bronson."

Anyway, I think my pick would be Sean Connery followed by a close second of Pierce.

This issue is even better than the Mary Ann or Ginger. Me it has always been and will always be Connery. Read the books...Bond was a brutal character and Movies like Dr.No and From Russia with LOve really bring this out. The car changed Bond history. People loved it so much that the gadgets gradually took over the films While Thunderball is probably my favorite Connery, my all time favorite is Majesty's Secret Service with Lazenby. He got to marry Dianna Rigg. To this day I will turn this flic off right after they get married...don't want to see her die. and hey guess what...they didn't use any super gadgetry in this one just a great story.
