I got a bottle of Micro Set the other day, and it smelled a heck of a lot like vinegar! Is this stuff actually vinegar? Or is there some kind of special ingredient they add in the stuff that does all the work?

I am not sure what ingredients make up Micro Set but you can definitely use vinegar as your decal setting solution. I have done it in the past and it worked just fine.

Over to the scientific side ladies and gentlemen:
Vinegar is mostly acetic acid, which is also used in silicone sealer (hence the "vinegar" smell), Simply put: acids dissolve things and acetic acid is one. So I wouldn't be at all surprised if Micro set contains acetic acid.

I'm going to decal a kit soon, after I get a little more paint and thin FUTURE on it,
I'll try the vinegar, and report back
(If I remember to post with Christmas coming up and all)
