Just wondering how bad theirs stinks.

I know that some mats outgas really bad. Olfas are notorious (a local store carries them and they stink up that whole area of the store). Its something that really bothers me. My wife's Fiskars doesn't outgas at all.

I'm a bit of a brand whore, and I like all the reference markings on the Tamiya, but I hesitate to order one in case its a stinker.

Hi there

A smelly cutting mat? I must have been lucky, but that's a new on me. I've never tried Tamiya's (or Olfa's) - but maybe not being a "brand whore" and only buying ones from the local art shop has paid off for me...

All the best

That is an interesting question. You had me yanking my mats and sniffing them. Caused some concern with the family. I have a Darice, Excel Hobby and a Tamiya mat and I don't really smell anything. If they omit gas it is insignificant to the other odors I produce in my modeling cave. I guess if in doubt try the Darice brand.

Cheers

Good Day!

My Tamiya cutting matt(s) do not smell at all, and they are over a year old.

Hi
My cutting mat my doesn't smell.

BUT I did get my nose stuck to it thanks to a super glue spill.
