Thin lead foil as found on wine bottles is the best. Cut it into thin strips and it works great.

I remember reading someone on here using the solder method to do slings, worked quite well as I recall. Gino's right about lead foil too, works a treat. I also use Tamiya tape- doubled up and cut to size it works nicely.

Thanks for all the ideas, guys. I didn't think to use the lead foil (although we don't get lead foil over here as a rule - something about lead content) but I know what you mean.

You might even find if your dentist uses those little photographic plates for taking pictures of your teeth (they contain lead foil as a X-ray shielding) and see if he will part with a few dozen of them (used, of course).... I read that somewhere....
