You guys are making this harder than it really is. You only need (4) itmes to pull off this Great Caper. 1) Acid etch chemical
2) Photo resist
3) Mylar or clear acetate for the negative
4) Brass sheet .008 - .010
I can see that an ARTICLE "How To" is greatly needed.
Good things come to those who wait.!! Patience is the vertue.

Part of the process has been left off this thread from the very beginning. How to transfer the image from the acetate to the brass. That's really the only piece of info missing. It's a cake process overall, but when one detail is missing, it becomes more difficult.

It would be a good idea to do a feature ont he site about making your own photo etch, so more people (like me) who don't really understand what your talking about.

Just a thought.

Sealhead was kind enough to PM me with the last bit of instruction on how to get the image onto the brass from the computer drawing. So, here it is...

"P-N-P paper is short for Press-n-Peel. I bought it through Micro-mark. Basically, you make a drawing either with a cad-cam program or Corel II Essentials (now only about $60) or Microsoft word, which I didn't know had a drawing capability, or even with a Sharpie black pen.
Anyway, you can print your drawing on the P-N-P paper on an inkjet and then put it on the brass that you have cleaned. Put a towel over the paper and iron away. The pattern will be transfered to the brass. Yo can touch-up with a Sharpie.
If the back is different from the front, you can make the back pattern. Just use registration marks that will go past the brass. You can then line up the front and back patterns on a light table or even against a window, if the sun is shining. "

Three cheers for Sealhead!

I think I almost completely understand. But, you print the image on the peel and stick paper, right?
Then you pull off the protective backing on the peel and stick paper, right?
You apply the sticky paper to the brass sheet, right?
Then, you put a towel over it?
And you IRON IT?

And the ironing transfers the image.

Do I get it?
